an article of interest about a certain player from india: http://www.cnbc.com/2017/03/27/pv-s...ring-the-glass-ceiling-for-celebrity-pay.html "Before the Olympics when we reached out to sponsors, often we were asked 'Sindhu who?'' funny.
Good to see Tian Houwei keeping his head above him at the crucial stage 19-all to wrap it up in two straight sets against Wei Nan..
Gao Fangjie is one of the young CHN junior cohort of WS that I like. She is still a bit raw, given to playing loose shots now and then and often caught at the net by Intanon. To me GFJ is a player to watch out for.
After pushing BoMoe to the edge I expected better from Satwik/Chirag then loose tamely to much less established Den pair (comparative, Astrup n co are doing fine these days though) I thought with the momentum of win streak (Viet tourney they won just last week) but then it also brings up fatigue, anyways they r getting better day by day. Great show by Sameer! Arisa/Watanabe couldn't win
When Chen Xiaoxin dropped G1 after leading 17-14 to allow Busanan to take the next 7 points on the trot,I thought she's finished. Didn't CXX to come back and win the next two sets, showed determination and fighting spirit which are required to overcome a an opponent like Busanan. Tmrw, she's up against another experienced, tenacious fighter, Mitani Minatsu, a tricky proposition. But this is the kind of experience she must go through to acquire the right mental attitude when the going gets tough and be tempered if she can pull it off.
SECOND ROUND Today are some interesting matches in the MS category. In the WS some fascinating encounters are in the horizon of the quarters, but for now serious things have not yet started.
