Yes, I don't want to block it. Just limit the movement a little bit. Maybe by tightening a screw underneath.
No screw underneath but the bottom part of the turntable which is the post that sits in the bearing is visible. Spin the turntable and you’ll see that the post spins which you can feel with your fingers. I experimented with a couple of foam sponge blocks to try and add friction but the turntable is too heavy for the foam blocks to have much effect. I found an unused roll of over grip to sit underneath and it squished down enough to slow the turntable. Still spins freely but slower. Picture is of the grip and you can see the imprint of the bottom of the turntable. I’m happy without slowing the turntable but I was curious to see if I could find a way of slowing it down for you
Yonex does this on their machines with a normal bicycle brake, which presses against the disk at the bottom with a spring that can be adjusted with a screw. You may be able to make something like this.
As I was looking for a similar side support as the ones on the iTennis machine for the Stringmaster Deluxe (https://www.badmintoncentral.com/fo...ng-machines-by-tennisman.190720/#post-2858400) but couldn't find one, I tried to mod mine just by sticking some rubber pads on the side support : I found 2 advantages : - it prevents the racket to rotate inside the supports (small nitpick of mine) - it make the side support flush to the racket. It would normally protrude a little bit and I couldn't clamp on my last main, close to the racket before the knot - same for the cross just next to the support All in all, I am happy with this inexpensive "upgrade" . We'll see how it will hold up over time. The rubber may crush after X rackets.
neat trick! i just took a small hacksaw to the bottom bit of the side support that was stopping the clamp get close
https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005003969094459 Those are like the itennis ones. They might have different sizing options so it would be good if you checked their page for the different options
I did ask them but they don't have any version that would fit the Stringmaster. From the measurement, they will actually fit but only with 2 bolts instead of 3. So I will go for the Michal's chudek support.
Here I am again with another attempt to mod the Stringmaster Based on the idea to add some friction to the turntable, I replaced the M8 screw that hold the brake lever by another one longer, 50mm (60mm would be perfect imo) As that longer screw protrude, I put a door stopper on top. This part would be in contact with the turntable. I can adjust the height to add more resistance. The only downside (for now), is when there is only a slight contact, it will squeak PS : it doesn't hinder the brake lever at all
Finally decided to bite the bullet to make the last remaining upgrades for my StringMaster Deluxe: 1) New Ennoxx tension head (https://www.tennisman.de/Weiteres/B...or-Ennoxx-Motor-fuer-Besaitungsmaschinen.html) Details see this thread: https://www.badmintoncentral.com/fo...-electronic-tension-head-by-tennisman.191601/ Got this one in prototype status and decided to buy it off Tennisman. I can get along with the software bugs but hope to get an upgraded mainboard at some point in the future. 2) Premium Stand (https://www.tennisman.de/Weiteres/B...n-Standfuss-StringMaster-Premium-schwarz.html) Had this one on my list ever since I got the machine but always found it to be too expensive for "just a stand". Having used it now for two rackets, I dearly regret not having bought it a lot earlier. What a well designed tank that is. It weighs around 20 kg, comes with pretty much zero sharp edges (aka string traps) and offers a nice pressure spring assisted lift to adjust the machine height. Coming from the Superstringer stand (which is around half the price), I hate to say that the price difference to the StringMaster one is indeed justified. They play in completely different leagues. 2) New "rubber padded" side supports (https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005...st_main.4.3ff75c5fcvgdbo&gatewayAdapt=glo2deu) I saw those on the new iTennis machines and couldn't get them out of my head. They are now finally available with the fitting 1.2 mm mounting pin distance, so again, it was "bite-the-bullet-time". And what should I say... imo the best thought through side supports currently available. God-Mode activated:
>Chef's kiss< Awesome upgrades. Impressive setup. Good lesson for all future stringers to start with a good base machine. If you truly enjoy stringing, save up and modify each component over time. You're customizing and personalizing your machine to your needs. The only comparable analogies are: 1) building your own PC (mobo, gpu, cpu, ram, hdd, cooling mechanism) 2) buying a car and slowly adding parts (new exhaust, turbo, rims, tires, aero kit, spoiler, etc) Next thing you know we'll see neon led light strips on your machine =)
100% agreed. I really hope that other add-on tension heads apart from the WISE will become available more widely. Going by rumours, Xpider is supposed to be shipping their machines to an US-based seller too (Tennisman has officially stopped shipping to the US already due to lots of shipping and customs issues), so chances are they will also offer the tension head at some point. And who knows, maybe this pushes WISE into a improved redesign.
