Actually working out in the gym (weight lifting) develop strenght and also to some point speed. It is the cardio training that increase stamina. I should know cause I work out in the gym.

For all you know, may turn out to be Hafiz vs LCW in the final.

TH will win IO beating everyone including Dato because TH will unleash his 8th secret weapon when the previous 7 secret weapons only get him to SF...If you don't believe me, just ask Indra:p:D

    Hmm..

..for me, if LCW were to lose to Taufik, that will be a surprise..:p
..better hope the 1 week off (this week) will give him enough gym work and extra training hours to up his stamina & go at it, again, next week..After all, quite a few of us are expecting a TH vs. LCW match in the Final..;)

The India Open is overflowing with badminton debutants!
A few of them could turn out to be nasty surprises for the top seeds.

When it comes to distance running, I think most of the time we all suffer from the will power to push ourself. This why I don't like periodic jogging and running. Even though physically we improve to go further, it is very likely that our mental power have wane or burnout.

I guess that is why people have coach or trainer, to push them when they cannot do it for themselves. And this is also why I like playing badminton, cause the shuttlecock pace me to the point of exhaustion.

Chris, no matter how much you put a light hearted spin on it (you're just being a nice guy :)), I tend to agree that LCW will not let TH get the better of him. If beating LD after he's been clobbered the last few times isn't motivation enough, I don't know what is. TH will have to work to his bones to beat LCW from now on.

At the risk of igniting a bushfire, let me say that a determined Taufik is harder to beat than a determined Lin Dan.

That's because, determined or not, Lin-Dan-the-player remains the same.
    With Taufik, it's very different.
When in his special 'I'm-not-letting-go' mood, he is very tough to beat.

(Peter Gade, in his online chat a couple of days ago, was hardly joking when he cited Taufik as 'one of the greatest players of the game'.)

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm not stating that a determined Taufik cannot be beaten... but only that 'a determined Taufik would be harder to beat'.

Unfortunately, although his spirit is willing, his flesh is weak
The Indonesian's diminished physical faculties are painfully obvious.

As much as I enjoy TH the player, I still feel his cushy, already-made life will get the better of him. I have stated before I'd love him to prove me wrong.

Eaglehelang, young lady, I'm sure TH would want no more than to beat LCW and LD. But for him, it's small steps first. I would say LD fears him more than LCW. TH has that "arrogant" (sorry, for lack of a better word) aura about him than LCW. Let's see TH topple LCW first then tackle LD.

As for my cuties, there will alway be some at tournaments. As a result, I will always have a keen interest :)

No light hearted spin on my part..

..for real..(maybe i'm teasing the many or few Taufik's supporters, die-hard fans or sympathizers)..:p
I'd be surprised if both LCW and TH meet in the Final.
I'd be surprised if LCW doesn't go to the Final.
I'd be surprised if TH does go to the Final.

I think you get what i'm trying to get across (in my posts in this thread)..;)

Taufik's skill (in technique) is one of the best in the world

    .
Many players would agree with Peter Gade.

Taufik's skill (in technique) is one of the best in the world. Many cannot do what Taufik can do, like his backhand smash, netplay, great attacking and defending play, deceptive play, etc...

It is magical play. It is pure talent.

I thought because Taufik himself knew of his talent, he became complacent and lazy to work on his fitness and stamina. If only Taufik could match up with other players in stamina, speed and fitness, he should be almost invincible.

It is hope that it's not too late for Taufik. He is now older. Even if he could get to his best ever fitness, he will find that he is slower (in movement).

So now, Taufik has got to use his magical strokes in a smart way (in tactics). He still has his strokes. And he could improve his stamina. But probably, he would never be able to improve his speed (court movement).
