17-11, may be too late for Intanon to close the gap....

The sensational Indian Kid on the Block who beat superstar LD recently will be tested by Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia.

Already IND fans are rooting for SK but INA fans will soon respond in kind.

Something is terribly wrong with this. It's only day two and there are already 4 pairs/player retired because of injuries and tons of players who look so exhausted that I think they can collapse at any moment.

But TS is beginning to show his worth and now leads 6-5 through SK's unforced errors.

Having started off more passively, SK is changing to his more comfortable attacking mode, 10-8 to SK.

The loud vocal support is having a positive effect on SK who now went further ahead 13-10.

TS's short lifts are causing a lot of damage to himself as KS just smashed them down with ease, now 16-13.

Not to be outclassed, TS held his own and clawed back to 15-16 with some good attacking shots.

Tommy has realized by now what tactics Srikanth is adopting, always keeping the shuttle low, lots of tricky net shots to make the opponent lift the shuttle for him to jump to the backline and bring it down abruptly.

But TS is his own fan focused on the task at hand. He now turned the table to lead 18-17 for the first time.

However TS smashed out and gave SK the game point he needed.

SK followed quickly with a smash to end G1, 21-18.

Will TS be able to take G2, now having enough experience of SK's play?

Now SK is forced to play tighter net shots which could backfire, 4-all.
