Question is not about how hard to find white cloth or pant, but rather if such rule is appropriate for today's badminton. Wearing jeans is of course improper, but why coloured badminton shirts / shorts too??? Keep in mind that it is not just about OUR game, but we also need more attractive apparel to promote our beloved sport, like many had already suggested. Even the oldest badminton tournament on earth the "All England" has changed their dress code since decade ago, why can't we move on???? Lastly and most ridiculously, some of the club’s pro-shops are selling Yonex wear but they are not allowed to wear in court because of such pointless rule.
Totally agree. I think some clubs blindly accept/post "white dress only" rule, because they want to boost up their "class" image, rather than really showing the respect to the sport.
ya... they need to recognize that even the more influential countries have long since moved on... that and such dull attire makes it difficult to raise interest in the sport. How do you invite a friend to go to your club to try out badminton for the first time if you also have to explain to him he/she needs to wear a set of white clothes? Well with CG and HNY coming from China, i think it's safe to say that they wont feel compelled to follow this tradition. My friend, who used to take lessons from Huang NanYan, said she was quite fashionable off-court. O and more on topic , she also said she improved the most when she was training with HNY.
u miss the point entirely. It's isnt about costs. What if i want to wear the latest 150$ shirt but it's red, 75$ short but it's black? If the club want a high class image, is it ironic that members wears walmart's 10-15$ shirts and shorts? How is this is 'high class'?
of course the club owner has the rights to stipulate white dress code but it does speak of their mentality greatly. The question is, is the owner opening this club to serve his family or to serve the public badminton community? If it is for the former, he better have a huge family tree LOL
with this perceived 'class' image, motive is to able to charge more for membership. (so easy to see thru these business people LOL)
So if this is white dress code only club, are they gonna abstain from hanging 'colored' pro players shirts like i see in C1? LOLOLOL If tony G or candra W want to donate their colored jersey to them, can I have it??? LOL
in compensation of this exchange for the colored pro jerseys, i would be happy to exchange a pro shirt for a set of brand new walmart white shirt and shorts Please pm me if this situation arise.
It's a suburb of approximately 250 000 people (correct me if I'm wrong, because I probably am) just north of Toronto.
Ontario Canada This Ricmond Hill is located in Ontario, Canada. More specific it is north of Toronto. Regards, D-Man
I think they are going to hire new coaches right now, according to a new post right here a few days ago. I am not quite sure what kind of coaches they are looking for since there isn't any detail posted. Are they looking for a coach for juniors, adults or seniors. What skill level are they expecting? What kind of achievements are expected from them? Not a clue! It seems like no one knows anything about every thing of this new club such as how the club is being run. Is there membership playing or just advance court booking type of play like that of those B.C. new clubs? Anyhow, no matter what, it will be beneficiary to players like myself! More choices, less hassle!
Can we expect this new club to be like this? Now, this is CLASS! http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40626
