Dramatic and awkward ending of the tournament... could have easily been avoided with a replay.

Whether CTC was right or wrong, a fact check on the situation (did the shuttle touch the mat first or did CTC actually got the shuttle back before it touched the mat) would have clarify things. No replay has been offered to the live viewers until the very end of the stream, including the "best moments" at the end.

At some point BWF will have to adress that replay issue.

A controversial fault called on CTC by the umpire at such a crucial stage of the decider at deuces, 22-all - did the shuttle touched the floor before he hit ? CTC protested vigorously to no avail, even called in the tournament referee; the point was awarded to ASG, 23-22.

And ASG went on to win the next point and the match.

Why don't they just replay the video in other angles, then the problem will be solved.

And WOW, they show the slow motion at the last point right after the match finishes.

    Great!

$13,500 prize winner for Singles in this tournament is not bad. Think it used to be $10-11,000

hopefully it is more next year for GPG event.

A thrilling and high quality MS final showdown was tarnished by dubious decision in critical moment, Ginting started uninspiringly in first set then discovered game rhythm slowly to consolidate his scheme in second and third with blistering pace and deft touch at net area. The gritty Chou showed tremendous determination to bounce back in trailing behind to close the gap 10-17, 14-18 then saved six match points but failed to convert into victory at the end, world #4 seemed dejected when shook hand after the match completion, understandable disappointment since no replay to explain more accurate situation whether the shuttlecock had touched the carpet earlier or not, it was so close.

INA latest stars Kusharjanto/Kusumawati took XD title, they prefer to play more flat game to avoid tall player Feng YZ launched deadly attacking smashes, the Chinese duo were pretty sloppy and can't anticipate unfamiliar opponents shot well. No happy ending for Zhang YM in Saarbrucken as she blew away 11-4 healthy lead in first set, Han creates fantastic comeback in the opener to tune fine game after interval break, thanks to her doggedness and superb retrieving skill to tackle Zhang tricky cross court drop or smash. The eccentric TPE combinations Lu/Yang fought hard to top MD podium while the Aimsaard sisters surprisingly upset their seniors Kititharakul/Prajongjai.

The last BWF World Tour of this year (before heading to Guangzhou Finals) is scheduled on next week in Sydney where some top players will show up there...

About BWF is doing nothing for incompetent umpires - Most, if not all, sports agencies/associations are full of ****ed up people who done nothing to help either the sport or the athletes. In fact I don't even understand the process, if there is any, how those officials got their job. For example, how one can become chairman/president/whatever of FIFA? Olympic Committee? BWF? How they become the ones who get to set the rules etc.? AFAIK, It's not because they made great contributions to the sport or they themselves were great athletes.

Wow i watch the replay and im not sure.

Irregardless, its time for Ginting getting a lucky break after being faulted in HK open final against LCY few years back.

and this is only GPG, work harder next time Chou.

It's very nice to see this young Indonesian XD attractive game.
Especially lisa, she is very aggressive in front of the net and also strong in defense, something that has been a weakness for INA XD women so far.

22-22 Did CTC swoop the shuttle after it hit the ground first?

There are some short videos in Youtube regarding this shot. The clip recorded from behind CTC, it seems that he was able to retrieve the shuttle before in touched the floor.

BWF Reviewing HYLO Open 2022 Men’s Singles Final
    Tuesday, November 8, 2022
    TEXT BY BWF STAFF
    https://bwfworldtour.bwfbadminton.c...-reviewing-hylo-open-2022-mens-singles-final/

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) can confirm it is reviewing events that transpired during the HYLO Open 2022 men’s singles final between Chou Tien Chen (TPE) and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (INA) on Sunday 6 November.

BWF trusts that all umpires endeavour to make the best call he or she can make in real time.

However, even if a mistake occasionally occurs, a referee cannot overrule the decision of an umpire on a point of fact and an umpire’s decision stands as final.

    _____

*BWF should announce the result of that review whether the umpire really had made wrong decision in this case...

BWF are getting roasted on social media. Audience are getting tired of inconsistent and unfair decisions on the players.

Not even an apology from the BWF. So they are now giving the umpires the ultimate power? Literally. Then what's the point of having match referees? Even football have VAR these days, how difficult for them to make the decision to review it quickly on videos, especially from a final where they had some 5 or 6 4K cameras recording from all angles.
