Who's the umpire? Was there a yellow card prior? Was there even a red card? That is utterly ridiculous. Michelle should've called the tournament referee and lodge a formal complaint. He needs to take remedial classes to prove he can be trusted to do a proper job next time.
absolutely nothing will come of it. this is bwf we're talking about... an organization that uses volunteer officials to officiate professional athletes. the athletes have spent a great deal of their lives pursuing badminton as a job/livelihood. what have the umpires gone through? a little bit of training so they can enjoy the game from court side while on a vacation. this inadequate system is entirely due to bwf's unprofessional understanding of professional sports. i repeat, absolutely noth...oh never mind.
Nah, Michelle should have asked for the tournament referree, especially if there was no yellow or red card produced. And yes, even then, officials will tend to "protect" themselves instead of reversing judgment and embarrassing themselves...
True, and he's lifting too much, predictably as well, as usual in recent years. Also every time he smashes hard and has to follow up with the return shot, esp when covering the long diagonal, it seems to take a bit of a toll on him as he'd then play some safe shots to keep going in order to give him time to recover during which his opponents would more often than not seize the initiative to attack him.
Indeed, such incidents can upset any player, disrupting their rhythm and rattling them particularly at crucial moments. A yellow card should suffice, the umpire was being harsh to fault her and award a point to the opponent. I always felt that tournament officials should be paid professionals not volunteers, and that there ought to be an accreditation system set up by BWF to grade, evaluate and assess them according to a set of criteria with regulations and standards and code of ethics. Then any tournament organizer can choose who to hire among the approved and certified officials or BWF can assign them on rotation basis randomly.
Only in Germany Only in Germany. Risky Amelia was called for service fault 11 times. Others were not called at all
No Livestream from BWF yet... Hmm.. Ahsan/Setiawan vs Astrup/Rasmussen will be nice to see in HD. Or Aya Ohori..
noooooo......oooooooo.... HSBC and Toyota (by Daihatsu) are now paying the bills... i don't understand why they still can't afford to livestream all four courts!!
Stoeva sisters exploit China youngsters Du Y/Li YH weakness despite the Bulgarian pair came from behind, losing opening game 20-22. Don't see any potential of this Du/Li combination, lack of mental strength and strategy.
