Intense draw for Okuhara or for any Japanese WS to win this tournament with all of them at the top half. Dunno if I want them to win this week or win next week at AE instead. Contrast that to the chill bottom half where I expect CYF and SJH to easily make the SF.

Great choices again for the matchups on court #1 and #2, as per usual with BWF tournaments. I mean, who wants to see the world champion play one of the most promising talents in the world when they can watch some unseeded doubles instead?

Shi Yuqi looks imperious in terms of results, clear tournament favourite for me.

Apparently, going by the score proceedings, Shi Yuqi trounced Kantaphon Wangcharoen

Damn, I feel sorry for Chang Ye Na. When she and Shin were split up, they were AE winners, #1 in the race to Dubai. Now she has to play carry for Jung Kyun Eun and now Kim Hye Rin, both of whom are well below her level.

It's Lee So Hee, not Shin. And yes, pity her. But I think Chang and Jung are expected just to nurture their juniors, considering they are not going be Korean ace for Tokyo 2020.

I'm afraid Lin Dan is going to suffer the same fate as Lee Hyun Il, both the oldies have excellent stroke play, on par , second to none, immense experience and great anticipation, but just not the speed and power to handle their much younger opponents.

Dropping G1 narrowly will cost Lin Dan dearly, he won't have the stamina to win a three-setter.

Kanta is a very fast mover, as long as he gets the shuttle back whether early or late, the pressure is on Lin Dan not to make a mistake.

Well, Lin Dan forces the decider, G2, 21- 14, but paid a price for it. Can he outlast the young gun ? I have my doubts, and it's only R2.

That was obviously long but given in against LD who protested but in vain.

Lin Dan occasionally showed his brilliance to outplay Kanta but the problem is he couldn't do it often enough, I'm afraid.

a number of times, Lin Dan is flat-footed by Kanta's jump smashes.
