That's why Misbun is better as a non-tournament coach. See, LCW lost when Misbun's there and won when Misbun's not. It's sad but true. Maybe MAS coaches should think more and talk less.
that could explain why LCW won this Swiss open because misbun stayed home. If only LYB could find ways to encourage misbun to attend with lcw in every tournaments, that would sure cut down LD's work
To be fair, Misbun appears to be the coach that spends the least amount of time talking to his wards during the mid-game and end-game breaks. (A second place would perhaps go to Hendrawan.) Contrast that with, say, China's coaches who take turns to hand out lectures in that short period (and also 'warnings and threats' to recalcitrant players - e.g., Zheng Bo at the 2009 AE ) Denmark too has a talk-a-lot team in Kenneth Jonassen and Morten Frost
In short, LD can only win one SS but not two consecutively. And he chooses the one he likes.Last year was SO,the year before AE, this year AE ,so next year he'll opt for SO again. In the days before SS, LD could win 3 tournaments in 3 consecutive weeks. What do you think happen? (I think LD 's objective is to be a global badminton ambassador and the understanding is he must learn to share titles but still keep the major ones. But global ambassador target is ambitious unless he can erase his well-known history. He'll also have to jump queue over TH.)
Yup, Misbun is 'short-winded' , just a few key words will do. While Rexy likes to talk a lot. Rexy's assistant Pang talks and jestures. Rashid Sidek is ....in the medium category.
i can't help it when my opposition have poor court coverage or if u want things hotter, they are leaky
Then, LCW - Talk less on his chance in the next tournament. KKK/TBH, quite boasting of their 'upcoming' wins. ( no offence..dear) Like coaches, like players.
I would say that early in his career LD was trying to break out through CH, XXZ so was hungry to win titles to add ranking and kudos. Now the titles mean little to him. I tihnk someone said before he has like 36 or 46. What is the difference between 36 & 37? Now as many greats in other disciplines (eg politics) he is more interested in his legacy. When people introduce LD and say (For example) Two time Olympic, 5 time World and 7 time olympic champion Lin Dan. People won't bother to say "& 3 time Swiss open champion." I don't think it is fitness or age. I think he is a cut above on fitness to most if not al the top players. I also don't think it is as severe as the TH method of scrapping everything and targetting 1 tournament in a year. It is a slight lack of mental desire. Sure he is frustrated to lose, but is he motivated to do anything about it?
Desire drops when the needs are satisfied. I think desire will never be quenched else TH would not be wanting to play nor players like PG. But the body is not always willing.
IMO, choosing your games in which to win and which to lose is still bullz to me... So saying like he chooses to win this game and lose the next game and he's a "generous player" (which I don't really understand the term)... seriously, LMFAO!... Its not like choosing eggs in the market... my opinion no offence whatsoever... I aint no analyst like Shebby Singh....
Nobody can guarantee themself to a win or want to lose. However, a player can decide how much desire or effort he want to exert in a contest. Be it a successful player, businessman, movie star, rich person, student with great GPA, that person has more choices to pick from which path he like to take. There are also other factor that i would not discuss here.
Yup, you're right. So we can conclude that we won't know 100% how much desire or effort the players put in... nobody knows but themselves.. When they lose they say they put in only 50%. When they win they can also say they put in 100% or they can even say 50% just for the heck of it and make them look much better than the opponent... nobody knows then... Anybody can say anything they want...
whitewashed? lets get the facts, out of the last 4 tournaments with both LD and LCW entered they met in the final with LD 3-1 LCW. of course, LD or even LCW knew that sooner or later the winning streak is going to stop. if you're LD to pick one out of the four 'not to win', Olympics, AE, China Open (at home) and SO. tough choice, isn't it?
You cannot say X player won't have his desirequenched because Y player did. LD is different to TH who is different to PG. Regarding Choosing to lose. I didn't say that. He doesn't chose to lose (hence he is frustrated) he just doesn't have the impetus to win. For me this shows simply that LCW & LD are not far apart in level.
LD choose to lose? No self-respecting sportsman will choose to lose. Both of them stepped on the court with the aim to win. If I'm LD I want to beat LCW everytime. Every single point LCW wins from LD gives him more confidence to get even more points. With this win LCW will have more confidence and can play better the next time they meet. So if I'm LD I want to beat LCW everytime. In fact I want to win by a big margin everytime so that the next time we meet he'll be a nervous wreck. So all this talk about LD choosing to lose just doesn't hold water. LD wanted to win. That should be crystal clear. He just happened to meet a LCW with a better game plan and a fantastic defense. It was just LCW's day at the office. Form comes and goes. But skill is permanent.
