This one is a classic. Too bad i broke mine. Very sad hahaSpeaking of original leather grip, here is a fine example of a wet kept original leather grip, on the Carbonex 21, first version with silver lettering and stripes, and the iconic red band at 4 & 8 o’clock position.
They still sell leather grip in that colour (in Japan at least). And iirc the 4 and 8 o'clock stripes are pink on the Cab21Another addition to the Boron family. Just have to wait patiently for the lockdown to end so that I can restring it and give it a swing. Feels great in hand doing a few dry swing. It’s a shame the original leather grip had been stripped off. I’m a big fan of original leather grip for my rackets.

I wonder if some of you guys played with Blacken before. It was slimer and heavier than most rackets during the early 80s. It gives killer smashes.
And the Carbonex 8 of course. It was way too expensive for me back then but I had opportunites to borrow the use of these rackets from my friends.
Some pictures of the woodies can be found in the following website which is maintained by a Japanese sports teacher. The unidentified woodie with the pink paint job is the B9000.

I concur. The modern rackets are definitely lighter, faster, with higher tensions strung but somehow they don’t have or give the same ‘feel’.I have just start playing with my carbonex 10 again from 1984 , it's still feel better than the new racket I have in my back .
Yours look to be a later version with a new colour scheme. The early generation had a light metallic green head and chromed shaft. The next had a slightly thicker shaft that is brass coloured but still retained the green colour of the head. I have all three versions. The oldest version did not have the plastic cone of the handle, rather the entire handle including the ‘cone’ is one wooden piece, with the ‘cone’ part painted in white.I have YONEX B-8000 ALUMINA HY-POWER, I'm still using it today, and its awesome.
Hi. I don’t see anything...we’re you trying to attach a pic to this? This is my racket I still play with .
If I remember correctly, the Cab7, here in Australia, was re- named the Blacken 2, and had what was called a hybrid Carbon shaft, which was a really thin sheet shaft with an outer layer of carbon, and was 7mm thickDear Double,
Trust me ! Zhao definitely used Cab 7 (B-8300) to win the AE 1985. At that time, he used an orange towel grip and with a black YY logo (painted by stencil ink) on the string, all these were remarkable.
Cab 7 is in all brown, with a T-joint, joining the aluminium frame and the carbon coated shaft.
Motern Forst was using Cab 8 (B-8500) in orange to conquer the champion of AE 1982. He was not holding a Cab 9.
Besides, I am sure Cab 9 was available in the mid of 1985.
Double, do you have the video of Zhao vs Morten in the AE 1985 ? If you have, can you lend it to me ?
YY Fan
