He Will Come Home with a medal, says his coach. Wong Tat Meng hinted that when he said that WCH is as fit as he can be and has prepared well tactically. He said WCH was always lacking in his defence and relied a lot on his attacking game. As such, he tires easily. So he has been training WCH to improve on his defence. With this, one can expect WCH to play a different game in this Olympics. TH will be stretched playing WCH. If TH is affected by his recent dengue fever (very likely with dengue, it saps your energy), WCH will walk all over him. If WCH beats TH, and he comes up with CJ, I suspect it will end up in 3 sets. WCH will use his experience to play it out with CJ. Fitness wise, I think both are equal. It will be a younger player playing a more experienced player. Experience will win. Who Will Come Home with the medal ?
WCH will eat Vietnamese beef noodle for lunch. No joking. Nguyen is a toughie but I think WCH will not be troubled by him.
oh...in +ve way, even cwf almost beat him in his homeground...why wch cant? in -ve way,i pewrsonally thing it will be a tough match...1st three rounds is the toughest if compare to others draw
of coz, he will bring a medal home... err... from souvenirs store... if he passes Taufik, he still got the Viet aka the fighter... tough, i must say but possible though... alamak... just go buy at the street lor... haha
Trengganu? for wat? go there see turtles lay eggs at pulau perhentian? I'm being realistic, dats all OK will stay positive... but... errr... XingAY lost to ... errr... Belarus player? I feel better if she lost to Belgium player
At the 2008 Thomas Cup MAS-ENG encounter, Wong Choong Hann looked weak and ordinary against the lowly-ranked Rajiv Ouseph. The final score of 22-20 21-16 is not exactly one that boosts Hann's odds at the Olympics. What makes it worse for WCH is that RO was in awful touch that day. More points came from the British player's errors than from Hann's skill. Without doubt, WCH is a great player and an exemplary sportsman But that doesn't fill him with what it takes to climb the Olympic podium.
Strong words. As you said it was against a lowly-rank and I am sure his effort was matching the occasion. Don't you think ?
Um, how would 22-20 be an 'effort matching the occasion'? It's more like a desperate attempt to hold off a 'lesser' opponent
Effort matching meaning he played to the occasion, no need to overexert knowing he will win anyway. I used to do that - when you do that, obviously the opponent would catch up but then you know if you raise your game, you will be able to close the game.
Yes, I admit I had only one eye for LCW and nobody else. But reading the article on WCH in which his coach was so passionate about his charge's chances, I had to chip in. But sometimes you can be blinded by historical information and then you won't see new probabilities. I like to think WCH has a good chance at least till the semis.
