I think OngTeo will blitz them. IF im not wrong they have met before, I think their last meeting OngTeo won. To me, they are one of the powerful pair with Ong unlimited smash.

I saw somewhere they have only NOT make QF 12/37 of their tournaments. One of the most consistent pair without winning anything. I feel this is their tournament.

For us oldies who have wtached Badminton Mens doubles from the late 80s. I can say the the Mens Doubles standards have dropped copmpared to 2000 to 2018. If Hendra and ahsan and the Kims are still whooping young guns here you can see that standards have dropped. Even Mens Singles have dropped but then again it is to be expected. Past two decades was exceptional in that we have two super Men Singles and half a dozen of fantastic single players From 2000 to 2018 including AXL and Momota. But it is more interesting now that the Mens Singles department for No.2 top is quite open .

I dont agree though. Badminton these days are way more physical.

Susi is dominant force in 90s but if peak Susi playing against ASY, AY, CM she will get blitzed. Watching it back the play is so slow in those decades.

While LD and LCW might a be physical specimen at their peaks, thats not to say the MS now is weaker. Because if you take the top 30 now vs the top 30 of those eras. The physical difference is way too far. Someone like boonsak ponsana or ronald susilo wont be able to play against top 20 of this era easily.

Yes it seems slower but could it be due to video recording technology?
Also, the shuttlecocks used nowadays are quite a lot SLOWER than in the 90's. I was playing competitively in High School in the 80s.

Nice work from leo daniel in game 1… they’ve been improving steadily in the last 1-2 years… in g1 they can change the pace quite nicely,,, not always tempted to play fast-flat drive,,, mixing up with soft touches,,, and leo in front of the net is quite stable (except in a bit of snatch/missed in front in the last point(s))

They can be Indonesia’s best… has the potential.

Also the scoring system in my opinion. now every time you win the shuttle cock u get point but not in the past. Furthermore Susi is a defensive player. Also Gong Zhichao.
while players like Bang Soo Hyun, Ye Zhaoying or even Tang Jiuhong are more offensive

argh leo daniel lost to aaron/soh today... I must admit MAS's pair stepped up in G2 and G3.

In G2 esp., they are dominant closing the G2 from 16-16 to 21-16...
In G3, they were hot early in,,, making big gap until 20-16... INA's were a bit lucky able to save 3-4 match points,,, but I think even if INA pair won today, I'd consider Leo/Daniel being lucky because when Aaron/Soh is on their attack/aggresive mode, a bit hard for LeoNil to find the solution... and MAS's pair is very good on defense too. Still much work to do for Leo/Daniel to be INA's best, but I'm content with their progress and fighting spirit today. Better luck next time!
    :)

    Happy Badminton Everyone!
