Inconsistency problem, Li/Liu shows pretty good outcome in this year to win 2 GP Gold (CHN Masters & US Open) and 2 GP (Canada & Vietnam Open) titles so far, then they lost to the unheralded HKG pair here.

Three INA MS are eliminated by three KOR players today, Santoso-Christie-Kholik lost to Son WH-Jeon HJ-Lee HI.

I have a feeling Sony and Hayom will win today.

LHI has retired. Even if LHI is playing replacing LDK, I am not too worry about next year Thomas Cup if INA is drawn to face Korea again. I am sure Tommy or Simon and even Mustofa is the 3rd MS INA will win. INA will win the other 2 points from their 2 MD pairs.

In G1, HBJ fails to hold her lead and was overtaken in the end, dropping the st set. In G2, Busanan threatens to do the same but a late spurt seals it for HBJ forcing the decider. To be frank, I'm not sure if HBJ's fitness can match BO's in G3, we'll see.

Besides, BO may be only a year or so older than HBJ but she's already much more experienced having been featured regularly in the senior int'l circuit unlike HBJ who only plays on average 5 senior tournaments or fewer a year, that makes the difference. There's really no substitute for experience, esp for the younger players starting out in their careers.

HBJ proves me wrong, quite a pleasant surprise that she can maintain her lead before the mid-game interval after which she even steps it up to forge ahead to the finishing line for a convincing win. Well done.

Unfortunately she will square off with her senior colleague Sun Yu tomorrow.

    HBJ v SY

Yes well done HBJ. It wasnt easy as BO has improved with her exposure to the ROW.
I am unashameably a fan of HBJ because she has lovely strokes and plays the game very naturally. I will be rooting for her and hope her tricky stroke play can cause problems.

Like you, I'm fond of her. I also think she has an artistic/creative flair in her game, very entertaining to watch her play. But to be honest,at the same time I always thought her fitness suspect and make bold to say once she get that problem out of the way, her game is up another level.

Of course, at age 18, she is still a young and developing player in the formative stage of her career. I hope when she reaches 19 and no longer qualifies to play at the junior level, CBA would give her maximum exposure and throw her into the deep end to compete with the world's best in the superseries of the senior circuit.

If PBSI is desperate, they will call him and Simon up for the duration of the Thomas cup.

My prediction is on the money. Sony easily defeated Hu Yun and Hayom stumped on Sakai.

So here goes a summary of day 2 result. To be honest and frank Korea still hold the position number 1 lead as all their players so far have sailed on to play in today quarterfinal matches except for bae Yeon Ju who lost in the first round and also Jung Kyung Eun / Shin Seung Chan who lost in the second round. Never expect such a good performance from the Korean side. Anyway this seems like a good prospect for Korea. With the absence of top MS players all the 3 MS representatives from Korea will be playing in quarterfinals today. Wow what an upset created yesterday when all the 3 MS from Korea all won against 3 MS from Indonesia yesterday.

Then the second best performing nation has to be Indonesia, China, Japan and Malaysia. Yesterday some of the Indonesia, China and Japan players have lost. Comparing the results, yesterday only 2 Malaysian players lost in the second round and the rest sailed through to play in today quarterfinals. Unfortunate also to note that eight Indonesia players have lost yesterday including one of their top ranked mix doubles who lost to an unranked Japanese XD. Then 3 players from Japan lost yesterday. China also continue to hold on the lead bit some of their players also have lost as well yesterday.

    QUARTERFINALS (03.00pm local time, 3 courts) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...857758-9954-4BFC-BBE5-D24113FDE1DC&d=20151002

Two second seeds tumbled yesterday, Hu Yun and Widianto/Dili made the biggest upset of R/16 also home hopefuls Ponsana and Buranaprasertsuk suffered premature exit, lost to Angus Ng and Tee JY respectively.

Both KOR and INA have 3 representatives in MS quarterfinal with 1 semifinal ticket has been guaranteed by INA through Rumbaka v the resurgent Kuncoro. Korean leading MS Son WH will be challenged by well-improved Mustofa who has impressive performance lately while Lee HI has recent CAN Open runner-up, HKG youngster Angus Ng KL. One remaining tie at this stage will pit KOR bright talent Jeon HJ v CHN mediocre player Qiao B.

WS two hot favourites, Intanon and Sung JH have smooth path en route to last eight and on paper should overcome Sato and Tee JY at this round. China next big thing, He BJ will meet her senior compatriot Sun Y and we'll see the battle of teens between local player Chochuwong against Singaporean Liang XY to chase last four berth.

Malaysia has assured 1 semi ticket through Koo/Tan v Chooi/Ow, three INA pairs look good to progress based on their world ranking but they must be wary to the underdog and tricky opponents who have stunned higher-ranked pairs to book last eight spot. Nayaka/Yusuf v reigning world junior Dechapol/Kittinupong champion may be close contest as their previous meeting scoreline displayed.

It's CHN v JPN and KOR v MAS in four WD quarterfinal clashes, who will advance? Korean pairs are favoured to go further despite their lower world ranked against two MAS WD. 2014 World Junior Champion Chen QC/Jia YF is potential pair to upset Matsuo/Naito while the newly partnership Huang DP/Li YH and Kurihara/Shinoya have equal chance to win this tie.

On paper script, Ko SH/Kim HN will meet Jordan/Susanto tomorrow as both pairs look good propsect to eliminate their opponent today. At bottom half of draw, three unseeded XD have created surprise package to knock out more favourite pairs. China have clinched 1 semifinal ticket in this category, Huang KX/Huang DP v Han CK/Jia YF while Korean darkhorse Choi SG/Eom HW will meet giant-killer Kaneko/Matsuo, the latter disposed second seed Widianto/Dili yesterday.

Yes, IMO the left-handed He BJ is more talented than Sun Yu, she has more variation of shots. China team should give her more international exposure as Japan did to Okuhara and Yamaguchi as these two juniors have stepped up their level of play at Superseries circuit.
