I have not seen this riddle before but I think you only need to take out 3 marbles (one each from each container) to determine the correct labelling. Assume this is the situation after the wrong labelling: Contaner 1 (all Red) is either labelled as Blue or Mixed Container 2 (all Blue) is either labelled as Red or Mixed Container 3 (mixed) is either labelled as Red or Blue Take out one marble out from each container. There can only be 2 possible outcomes. Outcome #1: Container 1 = Red (of course!) Container 2 = Blue (of course!) Container 3 = Red (if it is Blue, see Outcome #2) With the above result, we can determine Container 2 MUST BE Blue and label it accordingly. WB Angela ! My answer to this riddle is just 1. You just have to pick ONE marble to re-label the boxes correctly. Pick a marble from box 3 which is labeled RED + BLUE. Scenario 1: Marble is RED. Box 3: RED Box 2: RED + BLUE Box 1: BLUE Explanation: Since all the boxes are mislabeled, if the marble from box 3 is RED, that box contains only RED marbles. Box 1 cannot have RED + BLUE marbles because, then box 2 would be correctly labeled to have just BLUE marbles which contradicts the statement "EACH CONTAINER IS MISLABELED".
