Philippines Open 2007 - July 22 - Finals

Just computed the new world rankings of MS and MD on this coming Thursday. Should be,

MS
1(-) LD
2(-) CH
3(-) LCW
4(+1) BCL
5(-1) CJ
6(-) PG
7(-) CY
8(-) KJ
9(+1) Boonsak
10(-1) TH
11(-) Sony
12(-) Shoji
.........

no matter how, LCW will be seeded 2nd for the coming WC for sure since CH is no longer in National team and he is not allowed to participate in the world championship unless LYB gives him the golden key. am i right to say that?

Upload last match to YouTube, anyone please!!!!!

Anyone got record down last match MD, KKK and TBH?
Please upload to YouTube. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't say it really tested out their mental strength..it's more to that they were lucky enough to get away with some sloppy team work. A few times in the end they fumble through and barely get the shuttle over. If it was a better pair.. It would've been a decider match.. and well 3rd match.. we won't know :o

Still, credits to them and someone mention earlier they really need to buckle up a bit more in preparation to meet the top pairs at WC.

I made this speculation because they have apparently done so during Swiss SS in last March (sorry, not Sweden SS as I mentioned before). They did so in 2consecutive matches - beat CY/FHF in qf, then CW/TG in sf (CW/TG's form was better than now). In particular, the sf match's scoreline looks very convincing as an evidence of our speculation - 23-21, 13-21, 21-7. The qf match's scoreline was 21-16, 11-21, 21-13. Those who have watched the 3 matches could still remember that KKK/TBH played 100% defensively in set 2's and then 100% aggressively in set 3's. When they played defensively in those 2nd sets, the way they played looked very similar to what you have described their 2nd set today.

I could see that KKK/TBH communicating and supporting each other during the match.... touching partner's shoulder offering encouragement, etc.....all these were missing in their last few tournaments. Bravo, KKK/TBH :).

Another thing i feel happy with KKK/TBH win is this time they win without Rexy guidence. They should exposed moew to this kind of situation because they over depending on their coach in their previous game. They will turn behind and look at rexy whenever they face problems. This is very good to let them learn how to become independent and try to solve the problem themselves.

that's correct...the first time i am seeing they were playing without Rexy guidence and winning a tournament...a good sign anyway...

Finally, a long-awaited first title of the year for Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir, their last title being the Invitational World Cup last Oct. Hopefully, this improves their confidence. They will be the second seed at the WC next month and will avoid Zheng Bo/Gao Ling at least until the Final. They will meet either Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen or Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms in the Semi-Final.

Meanwhile, Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa will be among the top 8 seeds. Hopefully, they are kept apart from Nova/Butet.

Their comeback from being 19-10 down should also be congratulated, Here's hoping that they can keep the momentum going.

Lee Chong Wei is in supreme form at the moment, winning the Indonesia and Philippines Open. I think only a top form Lin Dan will be able to beat him at the WC this year. But then again, home advantage could work against Lee

MALAYSIA BOLEH!!! congrats to LCW and doubles pair KKK/TBH for winning d Philippines open... NEXT UP... THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE HELD IN KUALA LUMPUR... HOPE THEY CAN WIN..... BEST LUCK TO THEM

i would say it's kinda lucky comeback...
but it's another history written for the most amazing comeback...
anyone knows who has the biggest gap of comeback? Besides LCW of course...

No title for CHN this time. Of course, CHN only brought 'minor' team to Manila. I'm really surprise if CHN still won here. Congratz for all winners! Big day for Malaysian fans, 2 titles in one event -- first time in this year! Finally, Nova/Lilyana booked glorius for INA, hopefully they will shine in KL.

But the real battle should be next month...
