very good, 17 courts, which is pretty good, 4 more court then SGVBC.....but i still have 280$ credict in SGVBC,, i won't be a member in the new club soon... hopefully i can find a partner online, because all of my freinds are lazy to play badminton...
Just got back...no pictures because there were no signs or anything and I could not get in. So I guess I'll just have to wait...
i am confused. so there are two clubs opening up? one of them being opened by the gentleman who also distribute hi-qua? is that the one that Dink went to spy on? you know Dink, you can just kindly ask the gentleman for a visit before you go. bring your camera and see if you can take some photos for a sneak preview. sounds very exciting. S. Cal is finally starting to catch up with N. Cal.
Here's the deal: "Arcadia Badminton Club" (ABC: a badminton club in Arcadia, not sure what the exact name will be): is being opened by William and Chester of Hi-Qua. That's the club I went to see, not spy. This Club is based out of an existing warehouse, so it's built already. I believe they are just touching up the interior. The owners of ABC have been quite hush-hush about everything. They do not want to reveal anything until it's etched in stone. Los Angeles Badminton Club (LABC): is about 3 miles away from the Arcadia Badminton Club in El Monte. LABC is not built yet. It's in the process of being built. That is owned by Robert Kuah. I actually spoke to "Kuah" about leasing a storefront from him. However, again, LABC is not built yet. The foundation is not even built, it's still dirt. So, ABC is 90-95% completed. LABC = 1-10% completed.
I'm not the SGVBC mascot. I have played at many places in greater SoCal. It just happens SGVBC is the closest club for me and has the most competition.
It's interesting that William is opening so close to Kuay's club. And now that "ABC" is near completion and Kuay's is still only a blueprint, will Kuay still go ahead with the culb?
Again, I spoke with Kuah yesterday and he indicated he was. If so, it would be at least another 6+ months until completion.
So Mr. Panda is also an ambassador for SGVBC to other places... And what competition? There's noone that can compare to the Panda Smash.
Panda smash is only effective when opponents lift half court. Also, panda don't like to smash. Panda is nice and gentle.
Update: I met William of Hi-Qua today; I have an appointment to meet him at 4pm tomorrow, at his new club. I will take pictures and get most info then.
OK, I met William of Hi-Qua. He's a very nice and cordial person. He confirmed the following: The club is called: Arcadia Badminton Club (ABC) 12336 Lower Azusa Arcadia, CA 91006 Website: http://www.abadminton.com/ (website up next week) +ABC is scheduled to open in early August 2007 +17 confirmed badminton courts +ProShop and Restaurant +Initial Club Hours: 6am - 12am, eventually 24 hours. +Ping Pong available (don't know how many tables) Here are the pictures:
sigh more tiles...not too big of a fan of tiles, but hey they grip very well for what they are. Also the foam underneath will help. I found sgvbc a little firm for my liking. I hope the foam doesnt let them move...cant wait to see ABC when its finished
I stood on the proposed ABC surface and it was quite nice. The premium padding is thick and well cushioned and complements the tile nicely. Of course I'd need to play on it to be certain but William stated he spent significant time researching the playing surface.
