Great job! Both you and rwchen got the right answer. Yes Sylvinna is with Djarum and not Pelatnas.

I'll have to ask Loh whether he has the pics of your two ladies.

Btw, the KBA badminton hall is almost brand new, having been completed in March this year and became operational by about May.

Ten courts are available but the organisers used only 5 for this tournament.

She IS an Indonesian-Chinese. Liang Chiu Hsia is now a coach in Tangkas and Melicia Kurniawan is under her. Sylvinna Kurniawan is in Djarum and she's under Fang Kaixiang.

Thanks for the information, I mix up Melicia Kurniawan and Sylvinna Kurniawan. I think Indonesia and Malaysia have roped in quite a few of Chinese coaches so far.

Entrance is free until the Finals on Sunday evening for which RM5.00 is charged.

So for both the QF and SF evenings, there is no charge.

Should be very interesting from now onwards, so please don't miss the excitement!

    Quarter-Final Updates

In the XD, Tantowi Ahmad/Yulianti beat Lee Jung Hwan/Yoo Hyun Young 21-19, 21-12 and they will challenge Mak Hee Chun/Amelia Alicia Anscelly in the semi-final tomorrow. However, Frans Kurniawan/Nitya Krishinda lost to Hirokatsu Yashimoto/Yu Wakita in 3 sets 13-21, 21-15, 16-21. The Japanese pair will meet Shin Baek Cheol/Kim Min Jung tomorrow.

In the WS, Sylvinna Kurniawan once again impressed as she beat Chen Jiayun 21-15, 21-16 to reach the semi-finals. She will face Anita Raj Kaur, who beat Yuan Kartika Putri in 3 sets 13-21, 21-13, 21-8. The other semi-final will pit the top-seed Sutheswari Mundukasan against Gu Juan.

Indonesian players dominate the MS semi-final as they take 3 out of the 4 slots. The Pelatnas young players Andreas Adityawarman and Alamsyah Yunus both have beaten respectable opponents in Lee Cheol Ho (17-21, 21-15, 21-16) and the second-seed Krishnan Yogendran (21-9, 17-21, 21-12) in rubber-sets respectively. Andreas will now face the top-seed Jeffer Rosobin who also progressed after a rubber-set 15-21, 21-8, 21-17 victory over Kazuteru Kozai. The only non-Indonesian player is Tan Chun Seang, who beat Beryno Wong also in 3 sets 13-21, 21-16, 21-10. Chun Seang will meet Alamsyah tomorrow.
