This actually had nothing to do with the wife. I just wanted to get healthy. But she doesn't mind one bit.
Agreed, there is conflicting information about cancer benefits and risks. I followed the research links from the above warning re: increased cancer risk from long term supplementation. The conclusions were: Dietary supplementation with vitamin E significantly increased the risk of prostate cancer among healthy men. and High-dose beta-carotene supplementation in high-risk persons has been linked to increased lung cancer risk in clinical trials; whether effects are similar in the general population is unclear. I note the original article states that as an antioxidant, astaxanthin is 10 times stronger than zeaxanthin, lutein and beta-carotene, and 100 times stronger than vitamin E. No doubt there are some phenomenal short / medium term benefits but there could be some risks for those supplementing over the longer term. The bottom line is that there hasn't been a long-term study, so we can't be sure what the risks are. Very much a personal decision to weigh up the benefit(s) vs the risk before deciding to supplement with this, and if you're going to, whether to do it over the short or long term.
I was ignoring this post since the time it had appeared. But in the end, decided to open it and was surprised to see who it came from! I am glad the product worked for you. Myself having been gone through the pain phase, i can relate to you and can feel the agony of the constant pain and the frustration it can cause. Having said that, few things instantly caught my attention 1) dramatic improvement 2) reduced inflammation 3) altered diet Coming to point three, carbs are known to cause inflammation in many and altering diets has worked like magic. The secret ingredient in anything that works like magic is probably something thats going to hurt in a long run! First two points make me wonder whether it has traces of steroids too! Again, I am glad it worked for you and hope it stays the same (or get even better). I'll be doing my own research on this subject. Will post here if i come across something interesting. Thank you for sharing your experience.
It should help with tennis elbow. Since my last post, I had two friends who were skeptical and very skeptical but tried Asta anyway (because of my transformation) and here are the results: 1) Person # 1 is ~25 years old, no problems with his body but his eyes are bad. He had problems with contrast, he could not see the shuttle very well. He used to wear prescription yellow shooting type lenses (specifically made for badminton) on an Oakley Half-Jacket frame when he played. After 3 months of taking Asta, he said he no longer needed the frames because his eyes are much better. 2) Person # 2 is ~65 years old, joint pain all over. He wore an arm brace for elbow and forearm pain but said that after taking Asta for 4+ months, the pain went away. He still wears the arm brace though, just in case. Just for clarification: I'm not saying astaxanthin is a magic supplement or the answer to all problems. I am saying it helps, naturally, safely.
This was going to be a long post (still a bit lengthy) but I decided to keep it as short as possible as it strays a bit off-topic. The answer: yes-ish, I'm on a keto-ish diet and have lost over 60lbs. in about 15 months. I say "ish" because it's based on a ketogenic diet but I do not follow it strictly. I follow in moderation. Why the keto-ish diet? At my heaviest, I was 272lbs. When I started trying to get healthy I was about 265. I'm now 201 and still dropping weight (albeit very slowly). Why was I 272? Long story, over 10 years of not caring for myself, family issues, blah, blah, blah. Anyway, I got a physical over 16 months ago and the doctor said I was going to die soon if I didn't change my ways because I had extremely high blood pressure (170/110), Type 2 Diabetes (my fasting blood glucose level was 125mg/dL), 126 and up is full blown diabetes), resting heart rate was 102bpm, and a myriad of other health problems... ...I decided I didn't want to die so soon and needed to try and get healthier. Fast forward to about 3 months ago, about a year since I started trying to get healthy, I was 220lbs., blood pressured dropped to 125/80, fasting blood glucose level was 85mg/dL (no more diabetes!), resting heart rate 65bpm and just about all my other multitude of health problems went away! Since then I've dropped another 19 or so pounds so I should be even healthier. I credit a lot of my improved health to the ketogenic-ish diet and all the natural supplements I take, most notably astaxanthin and benfotiamine. Oh, in addition to a healthier diet, more sleep and some moderate daily exercising.
For canadian costco, I only see this one listed: https://www.costco.ca/webber-naturals---Astaxanthin-6mg----2-x-100-Softgels-.product.100342244.html I was also looking at Amazon Canada and found this: https://www.amazon.ca/Astaxanthin-O...91646&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=Astaxanthin&psc=1 Are both of these ok?
Ended up ordering this one from Amazon Canada instead: https://www.amazon.ca/Amazing-Formu...ul+Antioxidant+-+Anti-Inflammatory+Properties Hope it's as good as the one being sold in Costco USA.......
I am suffering from knee pain and have been taking collagen based supplements. Tbh, the collagen supplements do help with the pain, reduction of knee pain. I am excited to see good results of taking ASTAXANTHIN, I shall try this.
My daughter and I have been taking the 12mg tablets since I received my order around 10 days ago. She's been having knee issues while playing for her high school basketball team. I'm really hoping that it will help the both of us. Her with her knees, and me with my elbow.
Put side effects aside. What if a very strong pain killer leads to the ignorance of development of dislocations?
“Men treated with astaxanthin acheived higher rates of pregnancy”? Call me old-fashioned, but if this stuff might make me pregnant, I’ll pass!
Soooo......been on this for a few weeks and not really feeling anything different. I'll finish off the bottle and maybe order another 12mg one. If it does eventually help my elbow, I'll order a lower 8 or 4mg to just maintain it in my system. Any good news from others that have started taking these?
