RMV 's coaching , a lucky charm for him!. Good going Prannoy. He did not register for Thailand Masters. Wise decision.

HSP is looking lean and mean and I think is India's Gold medal contender for Paris.

    Viva La Prannoy!

My God, gold medal contender. I’m getting happy while thinking about it. Prannoy on the top of the podium and crying profusely while hearing the national anthem like Leander Paes at Atlanta 96 (bronze). Well, a man can dream. Thanks foxxie for mentioning this about Prannoy :D

I have to say this. Prannoy when move around the court , it is effortless and shot selection is marvellous. It is difficult to beat youngsters. He is beating them one by one. Li shifeng , weng hongyang both are very sharp and too young , 21 and 24 respectively. As commentators pointed out, Prannoy is efficient mover around the court and his smashes are so crisp . In Malaysia masters , except Viktor and Shi yuqi, all others participated. Viktor and shi yuqi , he has beaten in recent times. So, well deserved victory.

Its true that Prannoy along with Viktor Axelsen and Lee Zii Jia has one shot rally ending power.

So happy for HSP - hope now with a taste of success he'll be hungry for more. Maybe his mentality will rub off onto other Indian players. Were the conditions in Malaysia slow? Many long rallies maybe that favoured HSP too. I mentioned before ever since HSP played with Mizuno racquet his smashing has been so precise (Nishimoto improved his form too with Mizuno) - which is really what matters in singles. If they were available and affordable to buy here I'd have to try them! (Though I don't think Mizuno are OEM racquet manufacturers so I wonder who is designing and making their racquets)

I kinda feel the conditions favored his style of play. New venue, new challenges. It's a cruel world out there. Very happy for him. My hearts says he deserves more titles but my brain says it won't be easy considering his age, injuries and the competition out there. Lets enjoy his magnificent win.

Infact he said the conditions notfavored his style of play. it was slow. He didn't expect his body could withstand 3games everyday.

Shoutout to Prannoy for his display today. I feel he is at his best rhythm right now touchwood. Feels so filmy, potential breakthrough career marred with injuries and other things. The guy never reached his full potential at a seemingly prime age (23-27), but now near 30, he’s brought his A game. Today, Viktor was struggling against him. I know badminton is of 3 games ;) and not 1 or 2. Prannoy was awesome in game 1, from 16-19 to clinching first game and leading till the interval of 2nd game, he made life difficult for Viktor. Couldn’t watch 3rd game due to office work. My respect to you Prannoy. Keep giving your best, we are with you.

Excellent Match against VA... Some minor observations..

Not sure whether Prannoy took banana during break though he took some other packaged item ? .. But VA took..
T-Shirt change?... VA changed once. twice?
Why always Drop shots ?.. As commentator told, VA was ready for drop shots based his coach's advice.
In 3rd Set,match point(20-8), forced VA to run all 4 corners. Same thing should have done at start of all sets, particularly in 1st Set.
Making noise is OK.. but too much at beginning of 2nd set...need to save energy!
VA may too have fitness Issue.. 2017-Denmark open-Quarters- against Srikanth, he struggled & conceded(cried) to coach as couldn't run..nonetheless he has improved lot after 2017..
Wants to see more & more positive results in future.

Nice that HSP learnt Telugu (though Malayalam & Telugu are related )... And Gopi/Guru Sai Dutt can try to speak Malayalam!!

I believe regional languages need to be learnt for the convenience of oneself. That makes things easier for the person himself. Learning new languages is no doubt tough but in the end, it’ll always make things easier. Prannoy came to Hyderabad, spent so much time there so he learnt Telugu. But why would Gopi or Guru learn Malayalam unless they really want to learn that language ? Haha

Hearty congratulations to HSP for the win.
Although it was an anticlimactic finish to the match imo but I enjoyed it as a whole. The match against Log Kean Yew was a nail biter for me.. !!

I was rooting for both the players :p.

Prannoy is the only Indian player who has beaten Lin Dan, Lee Chong, Taufik, Chen Long, Momota, Axelsen regardless of the form the opponents were in.

Coming to today’s semi, what are you expecting against Kunlavut ?

Fabulous result for Prannoy, he’s really the “the best of India”.

If the effort hasn’t took him over the red too much against VA,
playing to form,HS Prannoy should beat Kunlavut, let’s hope he’s got a good physio to get him ready for the Semi’s.
