Pork bone soup every day?!?
It may do wonders for your joints, but how about your arteries? I hope you're keeping an eye on your cholesterol levels, James... :p

There is no magic in pork bone soup, for after all, bone is mainly calcium. You might as well double boil any bone. Dietary cholesterol makes up a small percent of your blood cholesterol. You may food without the slightest bit of cholesterol and yet have very high cholesterol. Your liver is the cholesterol engine. :D

This is a common confusion about cholestorol. Many people say, "Of all the cholestorol you injest, your body only stores a tiny amount. Cholestorol is manufactured in the liver. Therefore your diet does not affect your cholestorol very much."

The premises are true but the conclusion is false.

The liver manufactures cholestorol from saturated fat. If you eat more saturated fat, then your cholestorol levels will be higher.

There are other factors too that influence your cholestorol levels; and if we want to be precise, we must note that it is not the total blood cholestorol level that matters, but rather the ratio between HDLs and LDLs.

But you can reduce your cholestorol level significantly by reducing your intake of saturated fat.

didnt say it was a magic potion, just better than 1 or 2 component pills.
Calcium isnt the only thing one get from bone soup. Not all calcium are the same  Fat content of pork feet soup is overly exaggerated. Look at any birds and mammals, are there excessive fat around their ankle joint area?

yes there are more fat in pork feet than say chicken feet but overall, still less than a big mac or a untrimmed steak. Pigs dont kick people like u do so u can't compare your feet fat content with pig's feet. :p

I don't kick people. But if I did, my feet would have much less fat than pig's feet. :p :D

I just got in my order of Puritan's Pride Glucosamine. I'll stick with that for a few months and see if anything happens.

Taking glucoseamine is not as efficient as having glucoseamine injections into your knees. A series of maybe 5-7 daily injections and you are good for at least 10 or more years, based on my own personal experience. Taking it will work out to be much more expensive and not as good because you have to take it everyday and most of it doesn't get to the cartilage/cells that need it. My knees are still ok after 18 years.

How painful was the injection? Did you have to squeeze onto something while the needle was slowly inserted? How did it feel to have a liquid injected into your knee(s)? Any swelling afterward and for how long? . . . etc.

Its been more than a year since I posted this, meaning i've been on glucosamine + chondroitin supplements for that long. I wouldn't have stuck with it if i didnt feel any difference so I guess its safe to say that it worked for me. The pain and the stiffness are almost negligible, although i still do wear knee supports as added precautions.

Just thought you guys would like an update.

    cheers.
