    Hi Matt,

Good to note you plan on entering this year........ I recall you saying last year on badders.com site you intended playing but it didn't materialise. Lets hope it does this year.

It will be great to see some new and enthusiastic faces.

Please let me know if I can help further.

    Linda,

What about B and B prices around your way? I know travel lodges can soon mount up to a fair bit!! Perhaps i can crash over at yours!!

You mean play half cut? Why I never.............. :p

As far as I know Skates is still going and Sunny will be resting his leg for the High Wycome LJB course, the others.......... I hope everyone there since I've taken the long weekend off and subject to B&B prices I might stay till the doubles are over and get the train back on the Monday and support my local (international) badminton forum members!

Well, Matt, What can I say.... Words fail me... and that is saying something believe me!!
As you say Travel Lodge costs can mount up. However, a couple of the local B & B's are quite reasonable and within "staggering distance" of the LC. although a little way from any of the night life, but I daresay if you get chatting to Jack Webb of Hants. he will be able to point you in the direction of the places for a pint or three!! and a boogie if you are that way inclined!! Unfortunately my place is fully booked that weekend!!!
Hope as many of you as possible will be able to make it. If anybody is stuck for a partner I may be able to fix them up nearer the closing date as I usually get some "partner required" requests on the entry forms.

Linda dropped me an e-mail yesterday and the prices of two of the BnB's were very reasonable at £20-25 for a single room, one en-suite

I'm sure if you were going with a doubles partner a twin room would work out cheaper.

If I get a chance during my lunch break tomorrow I'll do a ring round the B&B's and post the prices tomorrow night.

I don't actually train as such, more of an attempt to hit more over than the last rally in each game.

Well it looks bad for the LJB course in Glasgow due to too many people pulling out, I was going to use that as a starting block and play in a small local competition two weeks later to get some practice in but I don't think it will be enough to get the amount I need to get my game up to scratch in time :(

Linda (who is very helpfull) is letting me know of people who are entering without partners and so far there is one who is a 1st division county player but I think he would be a bit let down if I were to play with him, so she is keeping me advised if there is anyone near(er) my level, I would think in Scotland I'm maybe a club player in the second division level (we have three leagues) and then we move to county level (don't know how many divisions though) So the gulf is a bit wide

Still haven't heard fron Sunny or Skates as to their still playing, hope Sunny's shin splints are healing well enough to let him play but I think if he does another LJB course the physicality of it may take it's toll.

I'm sure Skates would still play!

Sorry to hear about the LJB course, how many people are there now? I gotta get ready for the Herts Open next month. Some BIG players at that tournament!

I'm still planning to play doubles with Skates but I may not play singles as my shin splint is not getting any better. I couldn't do any form of physical training because of the pain in the legs. I tried skipping last night to improve my footwork but I started to have pain within 5 minutes of skipping. I'm a bit concerned about it now :(

I'm still waiting for specialist appointment and the GP hasn't sent any yet. I thought having Private medical Insurance should help but it doesn't.

Sorry to hear that you haven't got many ppl signed up for LIBA. I would love to travel but I need to rest my legs otherwise I would go to scotland mate. How many ppl are there now?

matt, good luck for the herts open. I may go to watch the matches :) I will learn what are your strengths and weakness :) So that if I get to play against you in the future satellites I will be better prepared :D

Will it be ok to bring a video cam and record your games at herts open matt?
I will post those games here at BF :D The whole BFers will be watching you. No Pressure :D

He was one of the few.

Hate to say it but skipping is one of the worst things you can do for shin splints with the impact on the legs.

    Sunny,

Maybe it's your trainers? Trainers without a soft heal give shin splints due to the sudden impact. Try giving a pair of Asics running shoes a go, and make sure you R.I.C.E pretty much every day. Shin splints are a pain to get rid of once you got em

    Prices, well sort of

As posted earlier the prices are as follows:

Lansdown Guest house: No single rooms, Twin room £35 per night
    Tyacks Hotel: No answer
L.J. Widdershoven: On holiday in September
    Trefusis House: No answer
Lyndhurst Guest House: Single room £21 per night, Twin room £44 per night
(both single and twin with en-suite bathrooms)

So in other words you have the choice of two unless the other two start to answer their phones on occasion (maybe they just don't need the business) but I would have thought in such a small? place all the BnB's would be open to accommodate players because it would be a certain income for them!

Oh well shows you how much I know..............

I stayed at the penventon hotel last time I played. A little more pricey but accomodation was ok and easy to book.
