Luckily before the heavy downpour sound which can be clearly heard inside the stadium..

China’s young star Zhengming underlines promise

A NEW star from China made it to the main draw of the Malaysia Open but none of Malaysia’s back-up elite men’s shuttlers followed suit at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil yesterday.

Wang Zhengming, who turned 21 on Sunday, is seen as the player with the potential to take over the mettle from Lin Dan.

And he showed his class yesterday with two convincing victories in the qualifying tournament.

The 1.83m tall shuttler from Guangdong showed great agility, speed and skills to beat Hong Kong’s top player Chan Yan Kit 21-16, 21-11 in just 25 minutes and went on to thrash another Hong Kong player, Wong Wing Ki, 21-12, 21-11.

The 2007 Asian junior and 2008 world junior champion will take on Lin Dan today in the first round of the tournament proper.

It was the end of the road for Malaysia’s Chan Kwong Beng, Liew Daren and Chong Wei Feng.

Kwong Beng came close to making a big breakthrough in a 16-21, 21-18, 18-21 defeat by South Korean Lee Hyun-il.

Wei Feng failed to set up a match with top seed Lee Chong Wei after losing 16-21, 22-24 to Indonesian Tommy Sugiarto.

both Koo and Chin are amongst the best in MAS' MD and WD, so there must be ambition in pairing them up... but so far their achievement in XD are really just so so... it's a wast of resources and their energy..

curious enough that BAM still keep them for so long... why not just split up and concentrate on MD and WD respectively?? or try other partners like LYB did in CHN team...

This one not backup, but independent... but I'm surprised, they honestly just shouldn't lose to this JPN pair, I rate them the weakest among all JPN pairs that we see so often on the world stage...!

Let's say good bye to all the small Malaysian flies in MO 2011. The only Malaysian that is winning at the moment is Dato LCW and Wong Mei Choo, whom both are veteran. This is only the 2nd day. OMG~!

so long??? They've only been paired a few weeks before Commonwealth, cos WPT was recovering from surgery. They are not permanent pair, after WPT comes back, Chin will focus on WD. KKK/WPT or KKK/CEH are for team events, TBH/CEH didnt work out.
The youngsters like CPS/GLY, Ong/CSC are permanent pairs.

Long CHEN (CHN) beat Muhammad Hafiz HASHIM (MAS): 21-14 21-16

Very disappointed with the score (though the result is somehow expected). Msia's MS future is really bleak... *no eye see* :(

It is not acceptable for many people, not just fans, but also coaches and BAM committees... I am speechless...
