However, Loh Kean Yew is up against a good Japanese player, though unseeded, had already defeated the following two seeded players, including Malaysia's 2nd seed:

Thu 11/12/2015 4:40 PM MS

Chirag Sen [15] [IND]

[JPN] Koki Watanabe

18-21 9-21 0:28

Thu 11/12/2015 10:30 AM

Koki Watanabe [JPN]

[MAS] June Wei Cheam [2]

15-21 21-17 21-12 0:50

I wonder how many of those kids from Asia are trying to cope with jetlag travelling such long distances and across so many timezones, considering most of them don't travel overseas that often, esp so far away.
I think Loh Kean Yew should be one the contenders for MS title. Koki Watanabe despatched Cheam Jun Wei whom I considered one of the favourites, that shows how good Koki is.
Goh Jin Wei was given a walkover by her Danish opponent, Mia Blichfeldt whom I thought is a good player. Good for Jin Wei who is definitely one of the hot favourites for the WS title.
Playing seven rounds except for the top two seeds ,and that after nearly a week of team event for some, can be pretty trying for these inexperienced youngsters. I won't be surprised for the penultimate and final rounds to be a test of their fitness, not just a matter of skills and forms. Not the best way to organize a World Juniors, but what to do, budget and other constraints have to be taken into account. Best of luck to them.
i'm not considering Cheam Jun Wei is the favourite here, but I can see he might manage to make a breakthrough after he left the junior side... but not be as strong as legendary LCW...
No, many Chinese here have the same surname. LKY was formerly from Malaysia and was admitted to our Sports School for both academic studies and badminton training.
I think this is one reason why some of our good players have to withdraw from the Individual competition.
Just look at the scoreline of Gao Fangjie and Gregoria Mariska, 24-22, 26-24 ! Apparently a tussle, deadlock for most of the way, the kind of match experience that should stand them in good stead in future.
I should think so. I suppose we would never really know how good the eventual individual champions are.
For CHN MS, there's only Lin Guipu left, not a good performance overall. With two matches a day after a week of team event, it is beginning to take a toll on some of the players across the board, I think.
Moe Araki seeing off her teammate, Saena Kawakami, one of the top contenders, is somewhat of a surprise to me. Let's see if Gao Fangjie can handle her.
