Yeah he does seem kind of shoved into the back corner out of the way. But personally I'm not too bothered by it. If any visitor cannot recognise a shuttlecock then they would probably have little interest in the site anyway. To me the shuttlecock is the most recogniseable thing in badminton so I don't see why the use of them (even if they are just a little too dominant) should confuse people. Most importantly though, like GunBlade said, he made these voluntarily so I don't think it's fair to be too picky about it. Overall it looks nice in my opinion and that's all that matters to me. I know I'm not going to spend my time on the site closely analyzing the banner. Anyway I think we'd all like to see what you can come up with now (don't take that the wrong way, I really do) .
I am not going to come up with anything. I am sure most here will share my belief that being a critique is an adequate contribution. If you are man enough to put your work up for all to see and therefore impose yourself on others, then you should be man enough to take some counter-punches when others don't share your perspective. If you can't handle that, then perhaps you should come back when you are older and with a better developed ego that isn't so easily bruised. I have plenty of critics for my unique public works on BC, ie my posts. You don't see me complaining. I don't go around saying: please don't beat me up cos I am doing it for free.
For those who don't like it, complain and critic all you want, but the fact of the matter is that the banner won't change unless there is a better one submitted by other BC members.
let's see you play badminton without a shuttlecock...do they still seem dominant? sorry Gollum...it got the best of me I think it's a great banner, a nice contribution!
I like your design GunBlade008. IMHO it will be even better if you can give a little bit more space to the top of the shuttles. It may not be right. That's just my personal point of view. Thanks for taking your time to do it for us.
no. i think you can probably try to use some layer masking magic in photoshop to get the transparency mask. but i am not a photoshop expert myself.
Ah well, yeah I'll have to try and get around it some other way. I was thinking of tracing it but it's too hard to trace the logo accurately as the details are so small... Not to mention I realised I don't have the font :S (which I think is Century Gothic?) Oh well I'll just have to keep thinking. Thanks anyway.
I'll make a new copy of the logo for people to work with. It should only take a few minutes. (First I have to put up some shelves, so be patient )
Okay, this is a sample at low resolution. Don't use these images. I have better ones. It's not a perfect copy. Kwun: are there any parts you would like changed/made more exactly like the original logo? If Kwun would like some changes, then I will fix them first before uploading the full files.
Glad you like it Of course, we must see whether Kwun would like any adjustments before people use it to make banners. Always, always work in high resolution source, keep the source flexible (vector rather than raster, for example), and don't delete the source files
If you use the link below and refresh the page, the picture changes i think it would be cool if the banner could do that. You would only need 1/2 a dozen different images. Would require a good knowledge of JavaScript though. http://www.yonex.com/badminton/index.html ***edit**** Also it wouldn't be a flashing banner it would just be different when the next page loaded, thus satisfying Kwun's distaste for 'flashy' things (I do agree though flashing images drive me to distraction)
You could just set a cookie; then each time a page is loaded, you increment its value by one and change the <img> source ("src") to the image with that number. There might be smarter ways, but that's how I would do it. You need a default image as well, for those without javascript/cookies.
i have attached the PSD of the BC logo. you should be able to layer it above your design in photoshop.
