I suspect he didn't sleep well the night before. Here's one of the biggest competitions in your career and you haven't had the experience of many semifinal or finals on the superseries tour.
What's up with Antonsen? I was looking forward to a great match vs CTC. His footwork seems to be a little odd. Even before hurting his ankle, his foot was pointing in the wrong direction when he was on the left side of the court.
Not a huge fan of AA, mainly because of his personality, but I do hope he gets healthy asap. The world of badminton needs him!
Did Antonsen get permanent damage to his lungs after he contracted covid? He seemed very, very, low energy today against Vittinghus at the Thailand semi-finals. Something seemed not right.
Congratz to Antonsen for his win over Viktor today. A well thought out game plan by Antonsen. Antonsen was willing to give Viktor the 2nd set, provided he wont he first set, in order to get Viktor to waste more energy in the 2nd set. Antonsen's strategy paid off today and he played Viktor very well.
AA had a good OG tournament. Nice to see he actually played three sets rather than give one away tactically as he sometimes does. I wonder if he'd have done it if he won the first set against Ginting. Also nice of him to provide insights into badminton via his podcast. I'm starting to like AA.
Even though I was cheeing for JC today I have to spare a thought for Antonsen, being the favorite to win, playing at home and ending up losing must hurt
He didn't have the weapons to really hurt JC, to be frank. JC kept his cool & slowly sapping Antonsen's energy & confidence away, from my observation.
Antonson is a real bear. Plays some really good badminton and shows it all to the world. He has the best hairstyle of all the badmintonplayers.
He might be a real bear, but I'm really bearish on his current performance. He's talked about an injury in his personal vlog and on The Badminton Experience. Does anyone want to take a guess on what's going on? I hope he can bounce back, he's a nice dude.
lets make sure there is a record of such skilled gamesmanship on this thread...these soft skills are just as important.
What’s next for Anders? He could still claim he was treated unfairly but I think he would lose a lot of credibility. He is basically trying to cheat and bring the game into disrepute. Best action for him is to admit he was in the wrong. Damage limitation.
I wouldn't say that, as it implies he had an overall agenda beyond his own immediate success. I don't think that is or was the case. He just wanted to win, no matter how. That would be the best even if he felt he was wronged. He could say there was a lot on the line for him given his injury and covid and that his nerves got the better of him. People would understand, it would improve his image and also help him get over it. Because feeling sorry for oneself never helps, especially in a case like this. The umpire and Nishimoto are not the ones to blame for his bad performances. AA has - for one reason or another - really disappointed over the course of the last years, especially when you consider how weak the current MS circuit is. He should look to himself exclusively and figure out how to become more consistent, not worry about umpiring in one match in the past. The potential is still there. He can play fantastic rallies, but there is zero consistency and that is purely on him. If he starts winning tournaments, his image problems will vanish anyway and he will have his fair share of fans (again). I mean, there are lots of people who even like guys like Kyrgios.
