MAS Cheam June Wei is a bright prospect, beating Lin Guipu in the team championship. Zhao Junpeng only managed to overcome him at the last hurdle in the individual championship.
A creditable performance by Liang Xiaoyu despite going down in defeat, pushing the reigning WJC Akane Y hard before losing the decider, 21-17.
I think Qin Jinjing has the same problem as Busanan O who tends to underperform at the junior level but do better at the senior's; perhaps the pressure of the burden of expectations is getting into them. Qin Jinjing had to go the full distance to beat Pornpawee at the finishing line, 21-18 in the decider after being one game apiece. Tomorrow she has a chance to avenge her defeat on Akane whom she lost to at the team tie earlier. However, I feel the defending champ has the edge. He Bingjiao caused an upset toppling one of the two hot favourites, Busanan O, and in two convincing straight sets at that which surprised me as she can be somewhat inconsistent in form. If only I can get hold of the video.
Terribly disappointed with Jonatan Christie's performance yet again. Seems like the no 1 seeding has really put a big burden on him 3 losses to CHN players (last year to Zhao Junpeng and this year to Lin Guipu, both at the QF stage; and 1 more to Shi Yuqi at the Mixed-Team event Final last week). Ihsan Maulana Mustofa and Anthony Ginting fared better as both won at least a Bronze Medal in the WJC 2013 and 2014, respectively. Meanwhile, Mohd Rian Ardianto/Clinton Hendrik Kudamasa also sail through to SF and they will face an unseeded Japanese pair. The chance to reach the Final is quite open. Rosyita Eka Putri Sari/Apriani Rahayu are also on the way to the SF as they are leading in the third-set. They should have won the match in straight-sets with the huge lead in the first-set, only to lose it 21-19.
to handle pressure is part of the learning process, losing might not be a bad start for him. another reason is because china must have drilled their 3 ms players on how to play jojo
4 out of 5 INA representatives won their matches today. Rosyita Eka Putri Sari/Apriani Rahayu [9/16] become the sole non-CHN representative in the GD SF. Ditto for Anthony Ginting [9/16] who's the only non-CHN representative in the BS SF. Regardless of their performance tomorrow, I think they have fulfilled the expectation set by the coaches in winning at least a Bronze medal. The other 2: Mohd Rian Ardianto/Clinton Hendrik Kudamasa [9/16] and Mohd Rian Ardianto/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari [9/16] will be expected to go one step further in reaching the Final, given their opponents tomorrow are non-CHN pairs. So, I will expect 2 out of 4 to progress to the Final on Friday.
he is great, but not that great. his power and attacking skill will work against any juniors. but i dont think it will work in seniors as he has a weakness on his defense and footwork. should work a lot harder.
Li Yongbo should consider partnering Huang Kaixiang with Lu Kai when all the dust has settled after the 2014 WC, leaving Zheng Siwei to concentrate on the AJC and WJC with a new partner.
quite surprise with the result so far i am happy for rian ardianto, he deserves 2 medals. good prospect. a bit disappointed with rhainhard dhanriano. i think rhainhard has a champion aura, but maybe his partner is not good enough. i agree with sibugichai, i think China train their BS everyday about how to beat Jojo. i still think that this WJC is a good experience for Jo. Meanwhile, Firman A Kholiq disappoints me a lot. he is better than Anthony in term of talent and playing style. i still think he will be something someday.
That might be a good idea, partnering Huang Kaixiang with Lu Kai instead of splitting Li Jinhui/Liu Yuchen and let the better of the two combine with him as someone (RedShuttle?) suggested. But before doing that I 'd suggest first getting HKX to play with Cai Yun for a while, just as Lu Kai is doing, to be mentored by the veteran master, gained valuable guidance and experience so as to uplift his game another level in order to compete with the very best in the world.
The lead has shrunk from 11-3 to now only 14-12 for the KOR pair. I don't think they can win, given the tendency for them to lose the lead just like that.
I'm afraid, possibly, the four matches Huang Kaixiang played yesterday and the second one he is playing now today is beginning to take its toll on him.
