    2011 All England: Day 5 Sat 12-March (Semi-Finals)

    The schedule of matches can be found located at;

    http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...88CA87-7360-4444-8AFD-4D278ACCF669&d=20110312

MS: It looks like we will get the Lee Chong Wei [1]-vs-Lin Dan [3] match at the Finals.

WS: I don't know who, Petya Nedelcheva or Eriko Hirose, will get to face China at the Finals.

MD: The Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong [5]-vs-Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng [6] match should be interesting to follow.

WD: Congratulations to qualifiers, Line Damkjaer Kruse/Marie Roepke, for appearing at the Semi-Finals. They will be facing Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang [3].

XD: It looks like Sudket PrapaKamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam [3] will make it to the Finals.

The surprise of day 3 of the 101 edition of the AE tournament's main draw has to be KKK/TBH’s win over MK/HS. :D:D:D

It was so unexpected after their dismal performances in the 2011 Malaysian and German Opens and we, BCers, were very negative about them. Some even claimed to ‘vomit blood’ watching them play.
It is hoped that KKK/TBH rise to the occasion by beating CY/FHF in the semi-final clash.

    Some more upsets are noted:-

    EH beat SN (5):crying:
    LDK/MR beat CWH/CYC (1):(
    CL (5) beat PHG (4):crying:
    XC/MJ beat ZN/ZYL (1)
    CB/GZD beat MA/BS (8)
    CY/FHF (6) beat KSH/YYS (2)
    MF/BM beat RM/NZ (4)

SN has been under-performing in her last 2 tournaments. She was beaten by an unseeded Japanese in the 2011 Korean Open in the 2nd round. Is she nursing some injury or is she not training enough due to endorsement commitments?

CL was fortunate to meet PHG who at 34 years of age could not sustain to prevail. PHG last beat CL at the VICTOR- BWF Superseries Finals 2010 in January 2011 in 2 games.

    Well, this was what PG told us;

"Hey Guys, well, tonight I can’t bring you the best of news. I was up against a very good player tonight. Chen Long played on a very high level and made it very difficult for me. In fact I had a good feeling before the match and really looked forward to the game…However he came on very strong and played with a lot of confidence and power..

I really tried my best to get into the match but every time time I came close he came even stronger back. In the second set I was leading 10-7 and I was on my way into the game but Chen managed to come back and take 6 points in a row. That was the end for me and I was not able to get back at him losing 12-21 12-21..

I had hoped for better today but first of all Chen Long played a great match, secondly I have to keep in mind that my preperations has not been the best. But this is All England and you always want this even more….So I guess I feel a bit down now, but hey..I tried this before - and know what I have to do..

Thank you all for your support during the tournament and I'll be back with an update soon.. By the way, next up for me is the Solibad Exibition on monday in Geneva..Take care."

PHG is very sporting and he made no excuses for his loss.
He gave credit where credit is due.
PHG, you are a true gentleman.:):):)
It is hoped that other sporting personalities emulate you and not throw tantrums on court willy-nilly.

It was a crazy QF. All the XD matches went against my expectations.
Half the WD matches went against my expectations.
OK, the MD matches were going to be tough fights so I it was 50-50 for most of them.
Saina Nehwal's loss, for me, is the biggest upset yesterday (but hooray for Eriko-chan!)
Even the MS produced minor surprises (for me) in Zwiebler and how PG lost with such a scoreline.
And sweet Tian Qing is no more in this edition of All England.

I think not including me, but mostly MAS fans (not all) who thought like that.
I am still sure about KKK/TBH.
n I am mostly in the other way around, bcoz of inconsistency of kido..

Im not surprised either. The MAS pair played bad lately, but the Indonesian pair is way off-form. MAS played bad but the Indonesians were worse yesterday.

Yup, what a breakthrough by Japan WD even China only has 1 representative in today's semifinal. Last year, all semifinalists were China pairs...
Anastasia Russkikh also entered XD semifinal in 2009 AE, partnered with Flandy Limpele but they lost to eventual winner He Hanbin/Yu Yang.

Fuchs/Michels(Overzier) were also in the French Open final back in November same as Nedeltcheva & Russkikh. Also the russian WD in Hong Kong SS semi's and Denmark Open semi's. Nedeltcheva in Denmark Open semi's ... you can probably find more if you dig further back.
