yes. bwf must enforce their own rules of CONTROL if they want to maintain CONTROL of the sport. this may very well screw independent players worldwide. now nat'l federation's have a valid excuse to not enter any independent players in bwf tournaments: 'we do not want to be liable for your actions.' i hope this also incites member associations & athletes to ?'n the level of control bwf has over the sport.
I think BWF and all countries will have a tough time over this. Support member associations, independents will have a hard time. Not good for the development of badminton. Support independents, member associations will have no incentive to develop the sport and players. Same end result - not good for the development of badminton. Badminton isn't very highly paid, nor are prize money high. It will be hard to keep training, travelling without sufficient financial resources. So turning badminton into some sort of professional sport is also tough. All in all, nothing looks good to BWF.
This is a very interesting point and BWF have somewhat shot themselves in the foot. The only scenario that I can see is non payment of fine means a life ban for the two. That would keep the status quo.
non-payment by bam? remember, bwf is holding bam responsible for payment. in reality the players are banned for life anyway because i don't see a reason any member association would sign their entry form or hire them in any capacity. if the fine stands bam has no choice but to pay it. those in charge of bam want to keep their jobs.
"...under the BWF's rule, the governing body are held accountable if players under their banner fail to pay fine for administrative matters."
