And the now the worst happens. Even Saina is out. I really don't know what to say. Sindhu, bring a medal in badminton!
these Olympic games are turning out to be a total disaster for india, what went wrong with saina. .she can't loose such an important match without fighting, is she injured or something. .it's an irony that India with its one of the largest contingent in the Olympic games history is struggling to win a single medal.
yeah I understand that but then I saw sindhu sporting a yonex dress in her first round match which kind of confused me.
@Airos didn't i posted it earlier after her first group match that her movement towards the net is not looking good, i was worried since then about her chances. she had a tough draw and all but i genuinely thought she had a great chance of winning the gold and now she is out in the group stage itself in straight games to a girl who is ranked outside top 50 in the world, something must be seriously wrong with her.
After I saw her first match(after reading your comment) against LV, even I was worried. She was definitely not at her best. What's strange is that unlike WC and AE finals, I didn't see any panic in her face. It was like she knew that she did not have a good chance in Rio.
exactly, she knew it was coming, at all england she looked so pale after the match started slipping away from her hand and she was not too far from tears then but here she looked more comfortable in accepting the situation. but i totally do not understand this, just one month back in australia she was moving so fast that she was out maneuvering her opponents, what could have possibly gone wrong. .may be something went wrong during the training before the olympics.
Saina Nehwal Injured during Training, 10 days ago Link: http://indianexpress.com/sports/rio...wal-badminton-india-result-out-score-2975975/ "There was a pain in my knee, so I wasn’t able to play well. It was fat pad inflammation in the right knee. I’ve got a heavy strapping on my knee, and my movement was not good I tried, but I wasn’t able to do it,”
Happy Independence Day Everyone! It's now over to the 'dark horses' PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth to try for a medal. Every round is dangerous. They can either go all the way or lose at any round. Vikas Krishnan the only boxer left and the wrestlers the only other hope.
Danish commentators in the arena said her knee didn't look to good, that injury probably was the reason for the defeat (eg. not playing 100% physical nor mental due to pain or concerns). They didn't broadcast the match, they just gave updates while showing another match. ------ Back on topic, I lost count... How many medals are India at currently? What are the best chances left for success? (Hockey? Sindhu?)
I just googled it myself - sorry for the question, didn't intend to rub it in like that.... If India ends up at zero, what kind of effects would that have? Cutting budget or increasing budgets? Coaches/staff being fired? Political consequences (like minister of sports getting changed) - or simply a shrug of the shoulders and that's that?
Budget cut and shoulder shrug... we have been on a budget cut since 2014. Current regime is fiscally conservative and CAD is high.
And Sindhu wins too! Very impressed by the performance of Srikanth and Sindhu, but I am not going to get ahead of myself. I think wrestling and badminton are India's only remaining hope. There may be an outside chance in athletics. Don't worry so much. India will most likely catch up with Michael Phelp's 28 medals by the end of this Olympics. If not, there is still Tokyo next time.
The last time our warriors met their QF opponents, set 3 wasnt required. :-( Scary right. Hoping for encore. LYB must be ruing picking Lin over Tian already.
I think Indian people must lower their overwhelming interests and resources in cricket and instead spare them wisely to those potential sports staged in the Oly. Just one among many things to remedy the extreme situation of Indian sports. Unless the gov treats cricket as a kind of mass tranquillizer for the society, as what happens to the football (soccer) in many countries.
Vinesh injured, and there goes our medal se was is so much pain, God please help her heal soon! My sister almost cried watching her weep on the court. I am sure it wasn't the injury that made her cry but the feeling that her effort for 4 years goes in vain. She is a CHAMPION no doubt she'll comeback strongly.
