And India wins a medal. Tremendous job Sakshi! May be India's good luck is about to start now. It was so sad to see Vinesh like Vinesh is a real champion. It was so sad to see her get injured like that. She was a real gold medal hope. But looks like finally our good times are starting. Well done Sakshi. Michael Phelps, here we come!
Sakshi did it, I am delighted! evenafter 0-5 she managed to pull it off with self belief. Hats-off girl
Is this news true? I feel sorry for India, a great country with more than a billion people. With a proper management, India should be a super power in economy and sports. I sincerely hope that Shindu will contribute more medal for India in this Olympic. http://www.hindustantimes.com/olymp...ores-action/story-t4hiklDTd77WsA4tG49LxM.html Haryana sports minister Anil Vij led a nine-member delegation to Rio, which cost the state exchequer R1 crore. Before leaving, he tweeted: ‘leading a contingent to Olympics to encourage the Haryana players’. But despite reaching Rio on Sunday night (Aug 14), they didn’t go to watch any event on Monday (Aug 15) and missed the quarterfinal bout of Vikas Krishan, DSP in the Haryana Police. Discus thrower Seema Antil and Greco-Roman wrestler Ravinder Khatri, both from the state, competed on Monday, but the Vij-led delegation skipped them too. Even on Tuesday, the delegation spent most of the time in its beach hotel and exploring the city, missing Haryana Greco-Roman wrestler Hardeep Singh’s bout. The entourage comprises two BJP MLAs, Gyanchand Gupta and Randhir Singh Kapriwas, and Amit Arya, media adviser to the chief minister. Additional chief secretary-sports, KK Khandelwal and joint director-sports, OP Sharma, are also in the delegation. Vij’s private secretary and Khandelwal’s private secretary have also made the trip. “It is the mockery of the system. On one side the sports department has failed to provide basic facilities to the players at grassroots level and no consumable sports items have been procured for the last two years. On the other side they (sports department) are spending lakhs of rupees on the Rio visit. The delegation has not even bothered to come and see the match of Vikas Krishan,” said a member of Indian contingent from the state.
Unfortunately there will be no enquiry and they wont be held accountable for this extravaganve at the cost of athletes
Congratulations Sakshi Malik! Well done! Hoping some other wrestlers win medals. Battle queen PV Sindhu our last Badminton warrior.
@Fan123 Aditi did pretty well to finish at T7 after day1, few more master strokes and she can be in serious contention, hoping for the best. Jai Hind
T7 after round one in golf is a great start. You cannot win a golf tournament in the first two days, but you surely can loose it. T7 leave her in a field of about 20-30 players whom can be expected to battle it out for the medals. I'd take a wild guess and say that her medal chances would be x2 or x3 as high after day one, as they were before it. Having NO IDEA about her strength (or most other female golfers I'm afraid) - it's difficult for me to say how big her chances are in direct numbers. Normally, the best indication you can get of that, is looking at some bookmaker odds (preferably not from the same country as the player).
Well said. I follow golf. The current top 4 are world class. And two others in the top 10 are world class too... Aditi needs to ensure she finishes saturday within 2 strokes of lead to stay in SERIOUS contention for Gold..

Very sad. Sindhu's inexperience showed and Marin was at her best. Sindhu will surely learn from this experience. But even a silver is precious. Thanks Sindhu. What about Aditi Ashok? Does she have a chance?
