It depends on your situation I guess. I would save about $40-50 on each racket if I buy it online vs. uptown Toronto. I've bought over 10 rackets (sold off most of them now after trying it out), and you can see how it can add up compared to if I only bought in stores. I string my own rackets as well which helps a ton and I prefer knowing every detail of how it's being strung vs letting someone I barely know do the work. For me it's just more cost effective to order overseas, I'm not against anyone buying from any retailers at all, but any way you look at it, it is more expensive. Whether it's worth it depends on the person =) I was going to grab a VTZF2 and had to stop myself because I play 90% doubles nowadays and a VTZF2 wouldn't be at its full potential since I'd have to get a lighter one just so that it doesn't affect defense too much. So in order to keep myself happy I grabbed the NS9900 instead lol. The smaller head size doesn't put me off a little. I miss the days of the regular head sizes like the AT900T
I've managed to talk to MaxSports and they are willing to restring my racket for the overlapping mistake they did for free but not replace the grommets. I've asked about Yonex warranty, they said it only covers structural stuff so basically if it cracks within next 6 months it should be covered but as for Cosmetic stuff like this, it is what it is . So even though they claim its Yonex's fault for the grommets, they (max sports) did not reply when asked if they inspected the racket prior to stringing. I did not expect this from a platinum dealer like Max sports. From the other stores i showed this to, most of them dont see how it would be damaged from the factory. Even if it was, most places would have caught it when stringing and they could reject the stock. Looks more like a bad string job when trying to figure out the new stringing pattern or just an inexperienced stringer. Unfortunate but I wont be buying from them in future. should have just gone back to Canucks or JJ Sports.
^ Did you call or try to contact Yonex Canada? [h=2]Canada: YONEX CANADA[/h]Address: 4405 - 1St Street S.E., Calgary, Alberta T2G 2L2, Canada Tel: 1-800-661-9262 / 1-403-243-0930 Fax: 1-800-465-9669
Yeah the VTZF2 is about 188 plus stringing and string with delivery puts it at 220 or so which i essentially what i paid. pretty much the same as my arc 11
4UG4 are sold out, and the G5 is not here until the end of the month. Not sure where in Oz you are, but a couple of shops here in Melbourne will do them for $210, inc string/ing.
I'm pretty sure tad's is tax free, plus 10% off if you pay with cash (or mention that you're a BC member). Correct me if I'm wrong, haven't been there for a while.
I havent been to Tad's in years as well. Didn't like the service the last time I was there. However, if its tax free plus 10% off if you pay cash I am willing to give them a second chance. LOL
I live in Ontario, I've only been to Tads a few times when I was in the West Coast. Service isn't admirable, prices are pretty good though.
Topline sports has some pretty competitive prices, I visited Tad's and tried to bargain for a discount but they wouldn't budge. Topline on the other hand was willing to negotiate and settled on a decent price for my VTZF.
People who negotiate in store make me wanna cry. I kinda feel insulted every time it happens (No harm intended). I don't know why, but bargaining is very present in the badminton culture!
