I remember vaguely he avenged all these losses to these lesser players in the next tournament he faced them, which suggests to me he lost to them in 1st place because his heart was not in it. But of course, let us not knock these guys too much as one day, they might get better. Still from here, we can say he is 'home' in the KO. I don't see Chen Long or PG putting up much against him tomorrow. It is going to be a good start to the new year for LCW.
Lee Chong Wei's losses in 2008 (9 times): Lin Dan - 3x (Swiss SS, Beijing Olympics, China SS) Taufik Hidayat - 2x (Macau GPG, French SS) Chen Jin - 1x (AE) Boonsak Ponsana - 1x (BAC) Sony Dwi Kuncoro - 1x (Japan SS) Lee Hyun Il - 1x (Korea SS) In 2007 (10 times): Lin Dan - 2x (China Masters, HKG SS) Bao Chunlai - 3x (Malaysia, Denmark, China SS) Chen Jin - 1x (Korea SS) Chen Yu - 1x (AE) Sony Dwi Kuncoro - 1x (WC) Ronald Susilo - 1x (Swiss SS) Mohd Hafiz Hashim - 1x (Singapore SS)
Even though I am not a LCW fan, but I do hope that he can start the year with a bang One concern though, if he wins the title tomorrow, it's very likely that he will lose very early next week Next week's opponents are definitely more daunting: Starting with the opening match against Rajiv Ouseph, followed by tough tussles against possibly Park Sung Hwan, Chen Jin, Bao Chunlai, and then Lin Dan.
The good thing is LCW has learned to take one tournament at a time. Next tournament is going to be a daunting one for LD as he has not played competitively for some time and it is also on a hostile Malaysian ground which seems to haunt him negatively. I would rather be in LCW's shoes than LD.
2007 Participated in 14 Open Tournaments (including WC) and the Sudirman Cup. Won the Indonesia SS, Philippines Open GP Gold, Japan SS, and French SS. 2008 Participated in 12 Open Tournaments (including Badminton Asia Championships, Beijing Olympics, and SSMF) and the Thomas Cup Qualifying+Final Rounds Won the Malaysia SS, Singapore SS, and the World SSM Finals. * LCW's name was also listed in the first-rounds of China Masters, and HKG SS, but he was probably injured as both matches were awarded to the opponents as WOs, so, I don't include them in the list of 12 tourneys. 2009 Participated in 15 Open Tournaments (including WC & SSMF) and the Sudirman Cup Won the Malaysia SS, Swiss SS, Indonesia SS, Malaysia GPG, Macau GPG, HKG SS, and the World SSM Finals
So this year, he will lose 7 times? Please, don't repeat last year's Korea Open final :crying: Lee Chong Wei is to face Peter Gade Christensen tomorrow for the title.
Based on paper, I think he can power through all the way to LD. He has good record against all his opponents until the final.
I think LCW gets hungrier each year. And I think this will be another vintage year for him. In my mind, he will reach a peak some time around now and he would learn to be fearless against LD. LD knows he will be facing a mature LCW from now who will be less intimidated by LD, as he was always before. I predict a hard time for LD in Malaysia, it will not be his favorite hunting ground.
Perhaps this has been explained before. LCW's opponent in the final tomorrow has been referred to as Peter Hoeg GADE and Peter GADE CHRISTIENSEN (sp). Which is officially correct. Why two versions?
He changed his name to Peter Hoeg Gade - something about following the wife's name which is common in Denmark. Also good if you are on a credit card blacklist, change the name and get more credit cards.
Try it and let us know. You'll either be sailing somewhere in the Caribbean alongside Tiger's "Privacy" or we'll catch you at the local jail.
Malaysia not LD hunting ground?? Two questions. Who won the WC 2007 in KL? LCW won anything in China? We need to be realistic the MO in terms of prestige is no where near the AE. Thus maybe this is one title that is not on LD's high priority list. Its like in football, you certainly wont see Brazil with the likes of Kaka or France with Evra coming for the Merdeka Tournament. Anyway, its good to see LCW playing PG in the final tomorrow. I guess the weather in Korea is no longer freezing since I dont hear any more rants about the weather and all.
