    Interesting.

So out of the 2 mx80's, is there much difference between 3u vs. 4u? I have a 3u and am considering trying a 4u, but a 2g difference doesn't seem like much.

IMO there are no big different between 4U 84 grams vs 3U 86 grams
but there will be noticeable difference between 4U 81 grams vs 3U 89 grams ;)
    that is assuming similar BP

not to mention if there are BP difference

What about if you smash only half (or less) of the time. And the rest is mainly defence, drives, drop shots and net play? I have a pretty balanced game, favours smashes probably slightly, but I still would like something well rounded. How does the VT80 compare to the MX80 in the other areas of play not involving smashes?

    Many thanks!

I am also in the process of finding out whether I should buy MX80 or VT80. In the meantime, personally at least, I like VT80 for its stiffness and head heaviness (based on the buzz here at BC!). But I haven't settled for it yet, still got to hear from more people's opinion before getting another one of those ''latest'' rackets!

Hope you'll be able to make up your mind too based on the many opinions here at BC.

What I'm afraid about, since I play mainly doubles, is losing speed in defensive shots and drive rallies using the VT80 compared to the MX80. I can see the VT80 dominating in smashes, but can it hold up as well in other areas? Starting to think the only way I'll know for sure is to buy one myself to test out lol.

there is no doubt that the vt80 is slower, only you can decide whether the loss in speed is worth the gain in power.

How about the 4U VT80 vs the 3U MX80 with respect to speed, drives and defence?

They are close to the same weight but still over 10mm difference in bp. The vt still has more power and is slightly slower.

I kind of felt like I'm really drawn to the power factor of the VT80! Anyways, I'll keep posted because I don't really want to rush it. Personally, I'm quite good defensively already but can I still be that good using a VT80? I'm not sure, though I've used quite a few slightly head heavy racquets.

If you've ever tried an AT900P then it's even head heavier than that. The only ones I can compare with are the N90 and AT700 but I really didn't like the N90, it felt kind of dead to me, maybe the strings but I'm not sure.

Well, i've ordered a 4U G5 VT80 for myself now. Should be here in a week, i'll try it myself then!

But on the topic of sacrifices, I do believe Yonex could still get a better balance for speed than the VT80. What they've done with the VT80 to make up for extra head weight slowness is to make the shaft and head frame thinner. Which is great, but I reckon if they made the frame more angular and sword shaped like the Victor Brave Sword range, it could be even faster and more aerodynamic.

better stick with MX80 tho....it's already a very good racket. IMO VT80 can hold any area as your wish, but demand more input, which is myself sometime get tiring to deliver.:(

I was playing with this guy who has a Voltric 80. Man I can say holy sheez....his smashes are so powerful!!!. Sadly I forgot to ask him If I can test it out XD, but in the game his return and clears are really nice.

Another reason there for me to go for the VT80! However, I'm still not rushing it until I'm convince and of course, once I've tested both the Mx80 and VT80 myself;)!

Once I get mine next week, I'll do a thorough (and I do mean thorough) comparison of both. Was hoping Kwun would do it, but lately he's been missing and less involved than usual on the forums.

Quick question, do you play singles or doubles?

Eagerly awaiting for that thorough comparison! I play singles 95.5 % of the time. Thanks.

    VT80 vs MX80

    Paintwork - VT80 win!
    Power - VT80 win again!
    speed - VT80 win again!
control - hard to tell, based on individual skill & technique!

For double players & sometimes single player, use 4UG5 for the VT80!
