Kind of scary how correct he was. To me it seems like Viktor couldn't surprise Chen Long anymore the more the game progressed. Maybe it is becaus Chen Long got used to his shots but I think Viktor also got a bit tensed up. It was a great match nevertheless.
Agreed. Thats why I'm never worried when he loses the first game. Always finds a way to turn it up when behind. Only problem with CL is he gets too relaxed when ahead, always gives opponent a small opportunity to fight back. Needs to stay focused even when 5, 6 points in front.
Chen was slow out of the gate today, let Axelsen dominate play in the first game. Typical CL - slow to get in to the groove, but uses G1 very well to analyse opponent and the rest is history.
I'm inclined to agree with you this time, and perhaps the previous time but not earlier when I thought Viktor's temperament is a problem/weakness - Chen Long just keep going until it's too much for Viktor who is pushing himself to the limit.
Lin Dan's consummate attacks at his best can find chinks in any opponent's armour. I tend to agree with your implication.
Nah. Game 1 today it wasn't great, still prone to errors here and there. Peak LCW probably but Lin Dan's offensive play at his peak was invincible. CL moves really well though and he's still relatively young so we may have yet to see peak CL, at which point maybe his defence could be impenetrable to peak LD. But doesn't matter, theres no one on the circuit right now that can beat that defence.
Yeah, he is often a slow starter, still difficult to kick the habit; he is simply not someone who is ready to fire away from the get-go, and tends to switch off whenever he has a commanding lead.
This rivalry b/w CL and VA expected to be next big thing is destined to have the same fate as that of LD-LCW.....VA's special handicapness,CL superior mental strength...GC going nuts for VA...''oh!what a magical unforced error from VA"....everything looks same....
Just the way it is. Whilst I have never heard, nor understood, the commentary from CCTV, I really doubt that they are chanting for European players when they are playing against Chinese players...
Understandably, but this channel is meant to be for international viewership. I tend to think CCTV has decent balance in terms of coverage, but tend to play favourites among Chinese players themselves though, imo.
No one in today's circuit attacks with the capability of Peak LD....the combination of Powerful+Patient+Supreme Belief...
The defeat yesterday was a humiliating slap on both the cheeks...Accepting yesterday's result will against LD's DNA...will love to see how tough he goes on himself and what he comes up with...
With all due respect, can we talk just about match? I mean, there are forums for players. I usually just skip it, but learning from yesterday, this could go ugly, and as someone who can't watch (internet sucks here), I only follow live score and some of your update here. Thank you very much. Enjoy badminton.
