DAY-7 ORDER OF PLAY (01.00pm, 4 courts) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...641789-C7DC-440D-99A2-4BC6D8B537EC&d=20180825 Men's Singles Round of 16 Women's Singles Round of 16 Men's Doubles Round of 16 Women's Doubles Quarterfinal Mixed Doubles Quarterfinal *Match Highlights : - Kantaphon Wangcharoen (THA) v Chou Tien Chen (TPE) - Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (INA) v Kento Momota (JPN) - Nozomi Okuhara (JPN) v He Bingjiao (CHN) - Ratchanok Intanon (THA) v Sung Ji Hyun (KOR) - Gregoria Mariska Tunjung (INA) v Pusarla V. Sindhu (IND) - Liu C/Zhang N (INA) v Lee JH/Lee Y (TPE) - Fukushima/Hirota (JPN) v Lee SH/Shin SC (KOR) - Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai (THA) v Tang CM/Tse YS (HKG) - Watanabe/Higashino (JPN) v Wang YL/Huang DP (CHN) As predicted earlier, men's singles top-seed Shi Yuqi is ousted by local favourite Jonatan Christie, a very close contest but the on-fire Christie executed well at the end of deciding game as Shi YQ seemed lack of passion and dictated to play monotonous passive rally instead of tactical placement. This victory answers Christie slump performance in Nanjing world meet despite still long way to go here but considering Shi YQ high world ranking and his achievement as All England winner & WC'ships silver medalist this year should escalate Christie confidence who will take on Khosit Phetpradab next. Sixth seed Srikanth Kidambi also couldn't go further, lost narrowly to Wong Wing Ki, 21-23 / 19-21. Then another Indian player Prannoy suffers early exit, eliminated by Thailand rising star Kantaphon Wangcharoen in three games. Liew Daren who created sensational run in Nanjing is sent packing by former WJC Heo Kwang Hee. A mouth watering clash in third round as expected, reigning World Champion Kento Momota will face home stumbling block Anthony Ginting, the Japanese made miraculous comeback in team event semifinal to defeat the tiring Indonesian. Some anticipated last sixteen WS matches, the lefthander He Bingjiao once again will face tough foe, 2017 World Champion Nozomi Okuhara, we'll see whether the Chinese will score first ever winning over resilient Japanese. Two Indian leading ladies, Pusarla Sindhu-Saina Nehwal will take on local opponents Gregoria Mariska and Fitriani respectively. Nehwal is favoured to progress while Sindhu must show off her best to overcome dangerous and well-improved Mariska. Thailand ace Ratchanok Intanon has chance to redeem her defeat over Sung Ji Hyun at same venue last month in INA Super 1000 event. Indonesia gold medal hopeful the Minions will start their journey and expected to overcome Japan number two Inoue/Kaneko, next familiar rival awaits them in quarterfinal, Malaysian duo Goh VS/Tan WK. World Champion Li JH/Liu YC have Indian hurdle Attri/Reddy then the Chinese have easy passage to reach semifinal. Women's doubles last eight are going to the plot and barring any upsets the top-four seeds will through to final four. MAS-HKG affairs in mixed doubles presented thrilling match when Malaysian pairs lost in rubber sets with thrilling deciding game, Rio OG silver medalists Chan/Goh edged out by Lee CH/Chau HW, 17-21 / 21-19 / 28-26 then it's like dejavu Goh SH/Shevon Lai couldn't pass Tang CM/Tse YS, 21-14 / 11-21 / 20-22. Tommorow's big match in this category will witness All England champ Watanabe/Higashino versus recent World Championships runner-up Wang YL/Huang DP.
Just watched the GSH/LSJ match against TCM/TYS. Good catchup from MAS but pity they still lost it in the end. That match shouldn’t have happened in R2... puts them in too much of a bad light when in fact these are 2 top 10 pairs. I think it’s tough how there are only 4 seeds in XD. Or maybe that’s the price paid for wanting to split same nation representatives into separate halves.
India's MS players are turning into a meme at this point. Sending a B-team to the TC (when their A team isnt that impressive tbh, as they lack any relevant MD), all in an attempt to prep for the WC and AG, and then absolutely bombing both....hilarious imagine if the Chinese team didnt do anything at the '08 OG or '09 AE, when they had bootcamps to prepare for both, just picture the outcry that would have followed
Let's count how many times the Indosiar commentator will say "Jebret !!!" today. I wonder if there will be more new badminton term will come up today too, after we have 'backhand smash ballerina' and 'smash dunk'
Actually i dont remember the A championship, i thought ChenLong last Final and Champion more importantly, is at ChinaOpen. Thats still verygood last title to have, a Slam tournament.
CL only win what matters World chmps,AE,Oly gold, major super series now he focus only on AE gold and hence he candidate to win.
Shi yuqi losing was a bummer.....K srikanth needs to go to meditation courses to cut down his silly mistakes.
AG are highly rigged with no challenges etc and faulty line judgements these games leave no value to them henceforth its useless to even count these games as a tournament. In Team Events CL was Legally robbed of his points,SYQ was Robbed of his points,Female LCW aka PVS was robbed of her game point and even Kento The Mota was also robbed of his points...and why ? Just to give the local crowd and population excitement and Honestly I have deep respect for Indonesia and its kind people but this game needs to improve to be credible to badminton fans. This sort of partiality would further exacerbate its already tarnished rigged reputation.
Which part of CL gets robbed? so dont anyhow say. Then The WorldChampionship is also fake because every 4/5 years its played in China. At least AG is hold 50 years ago in indonesia. and ask yourself, who spends the money? If its rigged, then Indonesia will have win the TeamEvent. I think Linesman have done good job.
