at least CL did some upset while Msia Elite back-up or juniors
still lagging, so CL deserve credits for that
while our elite or juniors must buck-up with Hendrawan around now

CL has to do 'better than good' while other country's junior star players just have to remain 'good enough' to remain in the national squad e.g. Tommy, TCS, CWF, Arif, etc., that explains why CHN junior player improves so much (also to get to train with the top players in the world helps) compare to other countries junior star player who remain stagnant and cannot progress to the next step.
I would think to make CHN national squad is mentally tough with so many up and coming players ready to kick/bite you in the behind, one gets only so many chances to impress, not like if you fail, well you get to try again and again and...,take GWJ a former WJ star who plays occasionally in non-SS tourneys and simply fading away. Go anywhere but in CHN, GWJ will be get star treatment like great coaching, bonus, keep all the winning $$$ and maybe a Datukship, and more...
To beat an aging TH, PG, I say is not that tough than to make CHN top 4 man-squad..women side even harder and far more competitive...time will tell even Zhu Lin, Wang Xin, Wang Shi Xian, JYJ etc are just not good enough to remain/crack CHN top 4 when more and more young players coming up and the rest of the world has PHY, ZM, WC, WMC, Tine, all having been around the block...some recycling the block several times around and....:p:D

    Totally agree.
Logically, CL should have the best shot at being the best among the youngsters simply because he would have extensive training opportunities that other rookies would not have.
But DEN's JOJ has shown he is a fast learner. With just a year of exposure, he has beaten his seniors, PG and JP, taken a game off LCW and CJ and created some other upsets. His skills are still improving but his edge is likely to be his quick pick up on tactics. The right tactics against an opponent makes it easier to win.
