I have to agree with wilfred. Lee-Choong may have a chance. It just depends on the day itself and the Indonesians having a 'bad hair' day. They(sigit/Chandra) have had other times of losing to unfancied opponents. but I can't see Chan Chew getting past Ha/Kim. Chew is the weaker one especially when the going gets tough on a driving rally.
Well Ah Fook is really serious this time, he has been fasting for weeks is about as skinny as ex-fat bot Zhang Jun.This will be his last hurrah.
Certainly not, but it is obvious from the recent match against Korea. Any Msian National too friendly/sociable with the public will end up with problems like one or two of the singles players, or maybe like the 1992 china Thomas Cup team.
Maybe treated to too many nice dinners and then get fat! Maybe Choong with his knee problem knows he can't go on for much longer. It's unlikely he will get a new partner as good as Lee so he might as well get on and do the best as possible in the partnership. I can't see them playing past next years Olympics. Choong's defense is really great - I wish I good get a defense like that.
Ah yes 1992 the good old days, nothing like some extra French Cognac or XO to get extra height for the Li Yong Bo leap, and shark's fin and abalone for the extra hard Li Yong Bo smash.
Nothing in the future is for sure. I did not say I guarantee Fu/Cai will pass first round, at the same time, I would not say they are more likely fail in 1st round than almost any other players even before the draw. And since they reached later stage in many recent tournaments then be giant killers, how come they are very likely to fail in 1st round? Well, I am assuming when we make prediction, we would say something stands out and is more likely to happen than others. If the prediction just say the chance of that event is not zero, then you might also include Kim/Ha in that list too, because they might get bundled in 2nd round, as Chew and Chan have beaten them before or Ha might get injury again, or Kim might hit Ha's head by mistake... Actually, we can verify the chance that how many of the followings will be bundled in the first round very soon: 1) In MS, seed No. 11, 14, 15 and 16; 2) In MD, seed No. 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 14, 15 and 16; My guess would be something really small.
You are correct on this. Nothing is for sure. But please do not turn around with your words. However, each of us have our own views/opinions on our respective idols and may be contradicts with others. While you may feel that Cai/Fu may emerge as the champions, I do not think so at the time when the draw has yet to be released and yet they were installed as top 8 seeds. While they are worthy top 20 materials, I do not think that they are among the globe's cream shuttlers yet (i.e. World Top 8). With the formidable Chandra-Sigit seeded at lowly no. 11, the pairs has the chance to cross-sword in the last 16, IF THE DRAW PERMITS. So sorry if I have hurt your feelings again, but I am just stating my own point of view and not meant to belittle your opinions on the pair. Well, I take back my words Ok! Cai/Fu has a great chance to be in last 8, with such a fortunate draw through their early path. I apologize to you for hurting your feelings before the draw was out. I "kow-tow" to you 1001x.....
I did not take my word back, I just believe they are much more likely to advance to 2nd round than not, no matter what draw it is. Yes, compare with Chew and Chan, they might be not as good at least for the time being. I am also surprised by IBF put them in top 8. They are not my idols whatsoever, I just want to say the chance for what you guessed about them is very very slim(out after 1st round). No apologize needed, after all, we are all badminton fanatics. And Cai/Fu need really fight hard to pass the 2nd round, for the Thailand pair is very good, and has been consistent too. They might stop there if they are not careful.
Too bad, Lee TS is out and so do Peter Gade. Anyway, I still do not think that Kenneth will go far. Will likely be stopped by Xia or Lin Dan in last 8.
