After a day of travelling today was my first day at the WC. Saw the legend Lin Dan play. Although he could not make the comeback the crowd wanted it was stil a privilege to see him play. Also saw the new star, Kento Momota. He had an easy win to get through to the next round. My fellow countrymen Piek/Tabeling also went through. Tomorrow Piek will play with Seinen wd against the number 1 ranked and with Tabeling against the number 13. Tabeling Will also play md with Jelle Maas against the number 4 ranked. Hopefully they can cause an upset in the next round. Really looking forward to tomorrow!
Actually there seems to be something of a perfect window for height, especially in singles. Being too tall is a disadvantage as well, as your body weight increases and you have more and more trouble changing direction. Also, most tall players develop their own injuries after a while, for example since they have to compensate for their height by standing lower, or because they stress their joints much more because of their higher weight.... Overall, you can play well no matter your size. There might be certain challenges to it, and you may prefer a specific discipline because of that, but at the end of the day, you should not focus on the things you cant change, like your height or your bone structure - instead keep looking for ways to improve, and most importantly, have fun and enjoy every time you step on the court
Sundis`s day 2 report Today the security control was more strict, I was rejected to bring a 50 cl PET bottle. I saw many people inside the arena having PET bottles though (of one identical brand) so I tried to buy one but I found no place that sold them, then I realised that all people carrying those bottles around were not mere mortals like me, they had this kind of important-person-passes around their necks. The mystery of where they acquired their PET bottles with water was solved later when I saw a guy with a load of those handing them out to all sorts of important people and officials. Me as an already paying fan however was expected to pay CHF 5 (about 5 EUR) for 40 cl of fluid (water or soda). If they want to rip off Sundis though they need to invent some way for people to wash their hands with the abscence of water first One more peculiar thing is that they requested to scan my ticket on the way out of the arena, I dont know why? They also had a second ticket control before anyone could enter the doors to the actual arena to prevent anyone from sneaking in probably. Some impressions from the matches: LZJ vs LGZ was a good 3 game match, both players smashed at every opportunity it seemed like, they did not hold back. LZJ did too many unforced errors in G1 but found his rhytm and won G2 &G3. HBJ did not give any impression that she lacked fitness, she had energy all the way in the 3 games she played. CPS/GLY did not play well, could almost have lost to CAN pair. Wata/Higa vs Rinov/Pitha was the most entertaining match where the quality was high and the rallies were good all the way, JPN almost salvaged G2, but lost 21-19. However they managed to win G3 in the end. Some crazy dives from Yuta also Lin Dan was overpowered in G1 by HSP, but in G2 he controlled the rallies much better. In G3 LD didn´t stand any chance, maybe lack of fitness due to old age? Too hard match yesterday? He seemed sluggish and slow, I could almost feel LDs agony when he lost its not looking well for his future career. Zheng/Huang lost a game to a GER pair, I guess it was nerves that prevented them from utilising a proper gameplan but I was shocked to see them drop a game. Akane lost to YJM, unexpected, maybe Akane has back pain or something impairing her play but YJM played really well and has great skills. The most disappointing performance of the day was delivered by Tommy Sugiarto, he had absolutely no better gameplan than to give Jorgensen opportunities to take control of the net and score smash winners. TS also has a boring and outdated playing style. I wish some other INA MS will overtake his ranking soon and go to major events instead, maybe Rhustavito or Ihsan? Tomorrow Im looking forward to watch the Minions
Tommy isnt taking anyone's spot, in order to send 3 MS they all have to be in the Top24 (unless there's still open spots in the draw of 64 AND they're next in line in the world ranking)...

To be fair you could tell something was wrong with AY by the first few rallies of the game. Unfortunately there were only a few rallies in the second game that showed how a healthy AY would have matched up against YJM. Here's hoping she'll make it to the QF against Ratchanok/Tunjung and makes it competitive. If she medals I will seriously lose my mind HAHAHA
Well, the number of upsets has exceeded my expectations a bit. Based from seeding, 5 seeded players/pairs got out yesterday. The most shocking is, of course, AY lost against YJM. Even though AY has a back sprain and probably contributing to her loss, YJM should be given the credit she fully deserves. On the other hand, only 3 JPN players lost yesterday. Incidentally, all of them are WS. Suddenly, JPN WS chance in this WC become slimmer. Only NO is left.

Yesterday when I watched the match between JC and Heo KK, the male commentator (sorry I cannot remember it's Steen or Morten) also mentioned that HKK was heavy-built and not much suitable for singles.Although his agility, reflex, etc are not as good as JC but compared to JC, actually I didn't see much different between their bodies, so I'm quite confused at this point.
