Not really. Shocking because #1 seed knocked out in their first match. Just like Li/Liu in 2017 they were #1 seed but defeated by Ahsan/Saputro in their first match. As long as minions focus on their game, be in form, any tactics by the opponent should fire them up to play better.
Interesting what you consider cheating. Just a reminder while you mention them - at one point, BoMo had a very similar role in world badminton to the minions (very successful, but a lot of people disliked their behavior). True, Choi was annoying with his serve, but 'cheating' is a ludicrous description. Umpire should have corrected it though.
Ginting is scheduled last and on Court 3. At least I don't have to stay up because court 3 streaming is not available.
As a short person myself, Yamaguchi’s loss today hurts me so much. Even though she and Okuhara have done so well throughout their careers, their injuries highlight how much harder it really is for short people to maintain dominance on the world tour. Yamaguchi’s performance in Indonesia and Japan was just mesmerizing. On the other hand, Okuhara’s win at Glasgow still means so much to me as a player, signalling that if they can do it, I can push myself to play better too! Just have to admit that there still is, though quite smaller than other sports, an advantage for taller players in badminton. Even TTY said this at some point (though it means a bit less coming from her since Okuhara and Yamaguchi are shorter). Anyway, the Olympics js right around the corner and who knows, maybe a repeat of the Japan Open final might just happen.
not gonna happen i think YJM will destroy VTT...as much as i like VTT... of course....though Prego still got small chance yeah you can say that i guess..
Not only that. Choi is so irritating . He even did some of his dirty tactics against indian pair Satwik/Chirag. Umpire warned him multiple times but no yellow card or red card.
Don't jump ahead of yourself. VTT is a very good retriever. She does not have drawback like Akane who do not have backhand at all. So, she had to run all the way to the back to get the shuttle . It will be interesting tomorrow.
Yeah there are reasons why their matches are always close score. I hope the umpire is more strict tomorrow. There are lots of nonsense with Choi. I remembered him eating at MCDonald (coz i eat there too) the night (was it QF) when they lost to AhmadNatsir in a super close score in MalaysiaOpen2017. He didnt looo happy just look angry. but you know most of the times, he will win this close score if umpire did nothing.
I watched them on the first day in this tournament. They played with Chung/Tam from Hong Kong. Even I am a watcher, I lost my patience to watch the whole match. And I know how players fell it. p/s: sorry for some wrong words from my post. This is 11pm, so I lost my accuracy.
Well im sure Kevin will bomb him from the get go. Just dont receive his serve. Gotta make him eat his own medicine
A very good partner is need for doubles. Even if you are best in the world , if your partner is average, you won't improve.
I remember one of the former Danish WD - Christina Pederdsen or Kamila Ritter Juhl ? - has the habit of taking a long time to serve by posing for an unusually long while. Yeah, the umpire should do something about it.
Choi's serving time is so so long that even just watching itself make you angry, think about the opponents . Umpires warned him multiple times but no change. They have to give him yellow card.
One of today's interviews: “Gregoria’s handwork is quite high; her arm plays much higher than many other players. She uses her wrist a lot. I find it hard to anticipate her shots. I should not let her get confident; if that happens she starts playing fast. She is getting quicker than before, I saw that she is looking quite fit.” – Ratchanok Intanon, on her next match with Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
Not a bad start for the CHN WS, He Bingjiao and Han Yue both prevailed over their respective worthy JPN opponents.
