First Ginting against Viktor, then Jonatan against Chou TC, both INA MS just couldn't get their game going. Strange but not totally unexpected in team championships.
I think the Malaysia MD tried to hard. Look at their smash full power the whole match without the care of other partner, If the partner head is with the shuttle , i think the head will be smashed as well. It is as if the incident is bound to happen eventually. It really shouldnt happen if they are calmer. Even the next point at 19-19 , Ong's racket hit Teo Hand again. They really need to practice calm intelligence. Of course, people would say they choked again. Double deuce and they cant win. So yeah, its sad. Why its difficult just a win.
I think Malaysians Ong/Teo are very uneven pair. Teo was really good today and Ong was terrible. If Teo had a better partner they would have won. Don't know if there is a better partner available though, either Goh or Tan in the future?
Here's the related clip covering the match incl. the accident scene! Partner on court, best friend off court. Ong Yew Sin took care of his partner very well. Get well soon Teo Ee Yi! #SudirmanCup2019 Very unfortunate scene, Teo got kicked by his partner. A probable victory just slipped away.
When I watch live stream video, I see a lot of blood and my thought is "sh... the racket hit him", but when I review the video, I just see that Teo got kick. And until now, I still do not know why the wound is so terrible with a lot of blood like this.
Indonesia dream on thanks to a terrific performance by Jordan/Oktavianti and enters the semifinals for the first time since 2015 RESULTS: https://bwfsudirmancup.bwfbadminton.com/results/3445/total-bwf-sudirman-cup-2019/2019-05-24 #TOTALBWFSC2019 #Nanning2019 So lame… BWF's upped sensation "… enters the semifinals for the first time since 2015… Well, BWF is getting better in promotion utilizing the social media, with relevant nice clip attached (cf. around 2yrs ago).
Heh, as if SC is held every year to create this sensation. From the first edition of SC until now, INA only failed to reach SF twice.
Indonesia redeems their disastrous feat two years ago to book semifinal spot here in Guangxi, eliminates Chinese Taipei narrowly, 3-2. The Minions pave the way for team INA, defeating Lee Y/Wang CL straight-forwardly. Two singles encounters go to TPE side with Tai Tzu Ying outmaneuvers Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, former WJC Tunjung needs to work extra hard to fix her poor court coverage and minimize easy mistakes. Chou Tien Chen derails INA plot to score first ever winning over Jonatan Christie in convincing way, 21-11 / 21-13. Chou looks steady, confident, good reflex and excellent defensive shots that surprises the lethargic and confusing Asian Games gold medalist. Trailing 1-2, Polii/Rahayu level the scoreline quickly to destroy Pai YP/Wu TJ. Then Jordan/Oktavianti manage their nerves well to vanquish TPE last chance, the unranked Wang CL/Hsieh PS. At court 1, the star-studded Japanese team beat Malaysia directly, 3-0. Opening match presents nail-biting clash between Kamura/Sonoda versus Ong YS/Teo EY that ended dramatically, 23-21 in 95 minutes of play, probably the longest men's doubles match so far. The Malaysians implement the right tactic to face Japan number one in first set then very close contest in second and third game, unfortunately for Ong/Teo who suffer painful losing at the end. Sonia Cheah and Lee Zii Jia couldn't to much to stem Nozomi Okuhara and Kento Momota as well from their authority to complete team Bird Japan victory. DAY 7 - SEMIFINAL (11.00am & 06.00pm) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...1FA1A9-CDE1-4700-B03E-3E7CF2C992ED&d=20190525 - CHN v THA (11.00am) - INA v JPN (06.00pm) The semifinal round of Sudirman Cup 2019 will feature almost similar contestant with two years ago in Gold Coast which comprises of China, Japan, Thailand, only Korea misses the semis ticket, replaced by 1989 Champion Indonesia. TOWARDS 13TH FINAL China will seek thirteen consecutive finals in Sudirman Cup, as this badminton giant always cruising into grand final since 1995 edition in Lausanne. But they must face complicated opponent Thailand who dumps defending champion Korea, 3-1. Nothing is impossible for Thai to upset the mighty China, they did it last year in Uber Cup semifinal stage. The well-developed Thai squad will banking on Puavaranukroh/Taerattanachai and women's singles ace Ratchanok Intanon to shake ten-time champion hegemony while hoping a surprising result in one of remaining three categories. Playing on home soil, sometimes will increase heavy burden for Chinese players. High possibility Thailand will plot doubles specialist Sapsiree Taerattanachai to play twice in order to push mixed doubles as opening match. The Thai mixed doubles duo won last encounter against current best pair Zheng/Huang in Singapore recently. DAUNTING TASK TO CLIMB A very tough challenge awaits Indonesia to bag final ticket, the last time they did in 2007. Team Indonesia is underdog compared wtith their high calibre rival based on world ranking. Except men's doubles department which will be INA trump card and maybe could earn point through mixed doubles, all three remaining categories offer unconvincing prospect unless they could deliver something extraordinary on tomorrow battle. Both Jonatan Christie and Anthony Ginting are far from impressive, losing meekly to Chou Tien Chen and Viktor Axelsen respectively here. In women's discipline, Japan is absolutely the favourite to seal the match as individual result aren't encouraging for Indonesia camp. It's still speculation whether both teams will apply normal order of play : MD, WS, MD, WD, XD or they would prefer to arrange mixed doubles as first match.
And both of their opponents played very well. If one really watched the matches, would grasp them. Both Viktor and Chou TC fielded very effective games. I thought Ginting and Jonatan were just stucked at the occasions, nothing worked to their wishes at those matches, and not that they hadn't tried! Just the Viktor and Chou's very days.
Facts and Statistics in QF Japan is the only country to progress to SF without losing a match (only looking in QF matches). China lost the very first match in this SC. INA vs TPE tie is the only tie that went to the fifth/decider match. Kamura/Sonoda (JPN) vs Ong/Teo (MAS) match is the longest one in QF with 95 minutes. This is the second longest match in this SC after DEN vs ENG MD match. TTY (TPE) vs GMT (INA) match is the shortest one in QF with 32 minutes. THA team scores its first win over KOR team in SC. It's the second consecutive SF for THA team. For the first time in all of SC editions, KOR team fail to progress to SF. KOR team is the only defending champion who lost in QF. VA, CTC, CYF have won three matches each. Only CYF can extend her winning streak among the three players.
Its better to field AhsanHendra. At least their careers are not long left. If they lost theywont get much of the blame. While a lost for Minions @ SC Semifinal dont sound too good.
I think THA and INA team need more than just the best performances to progress to Final. A bit of luck is needed.
Agree. I don’t think they are very uneven based on capabilities but based on emotional and mental strength and discipline. You could see Ong being really dejected after missing a couple of shots. Out of the new generation Malaysia MD I think Aaron and Teo have the best mental strength. Soh and Ong tend to make more mistakes in tight moments though they do have the playing capabilities.
Well in Doubles, the most important is the well being of the partner. I dont think you do something that put your partner in dangerous (health) situations.
