Ronald/Saufika won their first title together, beating Ser/Map 21-19, 21-14. The AUS pair did not play well especially Ser. Credit to INA pair for their effort and good performance to clinch the title.
I don't think they will win. Sloppy and mistakes-driven. WKW in the front court also not an advantage, rarely making move even when the shuttle is already low enough to kill.
That was unbelievable. Five straight points from 16-19 to 21-19 in the third set and Vivian/Woon finally won the WD title, beating the persistent JPN pair! That was a long and fierce match between the two pair.
don't want to get criticised by me, they have to win in all necessary means, anyway congratulations to them for winning a GPG title since last won at INA GPG in year 2011...
Heh. Anyway, congratulations to them also. It has been a long draught for them. Rightly before the SEA Games too.
Wang Tzu Wei lost his confidence starting from the early second set and now slowly losing to the confident-fueled Cheuk Yiu. I think he looks tired, which is rare for him.
Amazing MS final match. WTW is tired from all the diving in the second set and it is taking toll on him in the third. He still got the chance to win.
Lee wins his first ever GPG title, beating WTW 11-21, 21-15 22-20. He survived 4 match points to disappoint the three time GPG finalist WTW in 2017.
Lee firing rockets at will even game 3! Awesome display. Hoping to see more of him over next couple of years. Hope he stays injury free. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
Lee Cheuk Yiu , another up-and-coming player to watch, young, hard-hitting, fast and furious, in the same vein as his opponent, Wang Tzu Wei. Lee CY read Wang TW's game well from G2 onward, demonstrating that's how you play WTW, if you've the fitness and stamina to match. Older folks past 30 years of age would still have to rely more on their experience and wits to take on this new breed of young guns who are out to prove who hits hard, harder and hardest and with the speed to boot. Frankly, this match is like a slugfest, as if to show competitive badminton is a young man's game. Well done,Lee Cheuk Yiu.
