For that matter Singapore has won the historic Olympic gold medal through Joseph Schooling who beat the world's best. Unfortunately we do not have many JS because we are limited by size and talents.

The US had remained the world's best Olympic Games nation for many years although she does not have the world's biggest population. But I think the US at least has more than the minimum talent pool to produce champions.

Not sure if the will even read what we post as I did try and a standard reply is sent out.
Anyway, for SBA, don't have to reinvent the wheel, looks at what the other countries are doing, eg MAS. Since they are just up north and we are historical bonded, can just follow the structure...
Let me go read up and see if there are points that we can share..

This is from the Malaysia national team set up. Looks systematic.
    Technical Head

MS head coach. WS head coach. MD head coach WD head coach XD head coach
    MS 1 WS 1 MD 1 WD 1 XD 1
    MS 2 WS 2 MD 2 WD 2 XD 2
    MS 3 WS 3 MD 3 WD 3 XD 3
    MS 4 WS 4 MD 4 WD 4 XD 4
    MS 5 WS 5 MD 5 WD 5 XD 5
    MS 6 WS 6 MD 6 WD 6 XD 6

MS assistant coach 2 WS assistant coach 2 MD assistant coach 2 WD assistant coach 2 XD assistant coach 2
    MS 7 WS 7 MD 7 WD 7 XD 7
    MS 8 WS 8 MD 8 WD 8 XD 8
    MS 9 WS 9 MD 9 WD 9 XD 9
    MS 10 WS 10 MD 10 WD 10 XD 10
    MS 11 WS 11 MD 11 WD 11 XD 11
    MS 12 WS 12 MD 12 WD 12 XD 12

MS coach 3 cum sparring partner WS coach 3 cum sparring partner MD coach 3 cum sparring partner WD coach 3 cum sparring partner XD coach 3 cum sparring partner
    MS 13 WS 13 MD 13 WD 13 XD 13
    MS 14 WS 14 MD 14 WD 14 XD 14
    MS 15 WS 15 MD 15 WD 15 XD 15
    MS 16 WS 16 MD 16 WD 16 XD 16
    MS 17 WS 17 MD 17 WD 17 XD 17
    MS 18 WS 18 MD 18 WD 18 XD 18

Really depends on the set up and number of players under each category.

example of each department will recruit in 18 players but is flexible..... depending on available resources...
Then Coach no 1 as the head coach. Then coach no 2 as the assistant. Then coach no 3 as coach and sparring partner.
Each coach will be in charge of 6 players under them.
Coach no 2 and no 3 will report to the head coach in the various categories. Then head coach of different categories will report to the technical head.

Then players will be separated to 3 different groups such as elite team A for players 1-6. They will be under the supervision of head coach. These group of players will be send for SSP, SS and GPG tournaments.
Then the backup team B consists of players 7-12. They will be placed under the assistant coach 2. These group of players will be send for GPG and GP tournaments.

Then the talent team C consists of players 13-18. They will be placed under coach 3 cum sparring partner. These group of players will be send for international series, international challenge and future series tournaments. Some can also be send for GP tournaments.

Of course players will all train together at the training center under the supervision of all the coaches from different categories. But still each coach will be put in charge of 6 players. This is because players need to go out for tournaments. So when players go out for tournaments, it is the responsibility of the coach to bring them out. So the players will be accompanied by the coach who takes care of them when they go out for tournaments.

As they train, those in the assistance coaches team, if they do well will be promoted to the A team, and the same situation for the rest of the team members as well....

Do we have something like this in SBA? is this something that SBA can follow and implement, SBA have the resources...?

"Joo-bong added that Malaysia were lagging behind the world’s best in men’s doubles because they kept changing players, coaches and coaching structures"

In Japan, we don’t simply change coaches or players. Everyone is given time to produce results.

“We don’t change an Olympic-medal winning pair or a coach just like that,” said the 52-year-old Joo-bong, who coached the Malaysian team from 2000-2003.

“Look at Denmark’s top pair Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen. They are playing together for the 13th year and they’re still doing great despite all the challenges.”

I was reading this comments on the MAS news and 1st thing that came to mind was SG.....how coincidence! You don't have to be a legend to notice that in SG.
I feel SBA have to relook at our overall strategy, start afresh, look at longer term targets, have some stability....don't talk about results. this is the priority!

HK MD just won a SS!!
Beating all the top MD pair in the world along the way! Saw the match last night and kept thinking where is the SG pair, TWH and TH....If they can play in the SS, that would be great!!
I think they are probably in the top 30 ranking if I am not mistaken, if they can continue to train and work hard, I believe another 2 years, they should be at least top 20 if not top 15 and consistently play in the SS. That's what I am hoping for....

Doubt SBA has that many players in its national set-up.

XD for exact. Previously HKG also have another pair into Top 10 Lee CH/Chau HW and Lee/Chau won their title at 2015 Australia SS defeated Liu Cheng/Bao Yixin, so it's not too surprise IMO if there is another XD pair make the same achievement.

TH/TWH are rank No.18 now and they had been registered in Denmark SSP but then had withdrawn on 7th September 2017.
Previously they had played in 2017 AE, S'pore SS and INA SSP.

I noticed TH/TWH had withdrawn from Japan SS and Korea SS this year.

just an example, adjust where necessary, but looks like a good model right, a systematic approach to training...

TWH really retired? No news and reason for the departure?
How can we uplift our standard?
CEO came in April - still no plans?
Still no news about head coach? No news about Assistant Coach or new set up?
where is LXY as well? "retired" as well...

Do SBA send the players if the competitions are held in nearby countries such as Vietnam?

yes, I have seen them sending the players out...but not as frequent as we wish....
so what are SBA plans now?
You know we can read so many news about the team in MAS, TH, INA...but nothing about our own shuttlers?
    howcome ah?
like once in a blue blue moon some news trickle in....and that's on the surface only. Not in depth analysis or news about the plan of SBA...

Unfortunately, we do not have badminton stars for our sports reporters to write about with enthusiasm.

    Sad right!

Well is a cycle, if SBA set things up and put in the effort to groom the players, and when the players do well, then will have something good to write....else, no plans, no vision, no target, no players, that's why nothing to write...
    chicken and egg thingy...
