Just checked the semifinals schedule for tomorrow. The best part of all is that there will be no Korea vs Korea match tomorrow which means that if all the 7 Korea players advanced to the finals Korea mah have a chance to win 7 gold medals in this tournament. I am just saying if all the 7 players advanced to the finals. But then so far so good. I have looked at the schedule of play and I am quite confident that all the 7 Korea players may have a good chance of entering the finals to play tomorrow.

The best part of all is Korea have 2 MS players, 1 WS player, 2 WD players and 2 XD players who will be playing tomorrow. I am just saying if and only if all these 7 players win tomorrow and proceed to play in the finals, then Korea will have a chance to win 4 gold medals and 3 silver medals. Korea will never have a chance to win any medals for the MD category as 2 of their MD who are scheduled to join this tournament have withdrawn. Wow congratulations. I am so happy.

It is heartening to see a Singaporean entering the WS semi-finals tomorrow.

However it will be too much to expect Xiaoyu to beat No.1 seed, Ratchanok Intanon on the latter's home ground tomorrow.

    Well done Xiaoyu! :)

    SEMIFINALS (01.00pm local time, 2 courts) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...857758-9954-4BFC-BBE5-D24113FDE1DC&d=20151003

Two rising stars will meet each other in today's last four, Mustofa v Jeon HJ, a new generation who may follow Momota and Axelsen path to reach elite level. Young hopeful Indonesian Mustofa looks on fire as he demolished top-seed Son WH yesterday. The other semifinal tie also involves INA-KOR player, Rumbaka v Lee HI, the vast experienced Lee is favoured to through into last round once again after MAS Masters, NZL Open and VIE Open.

Local hero Intanon will face surprising semifinalist, Liang XY. The former world champion was forced to play extra game by Sato, a pretty tiring match last night. It's tough task for the Singaporean to topple this much more experienced and skillfull Thai WS. A close tie is expected for Sun Y v Sung JH match with Sung has slight advantage to prevail due her good form recently. After created a breakthrough to win SIN SS last April, 21 years old Sun Yu performance seems deteriorated, losing frequently at early round.

INA shows their power in MD discipline, has 3 representative and 1 final ticket through Nayaka/Yusuf v Gideon/Sukamuljo. It's a good sign for regeneration to back up Ahsan/Setiawan. Pratama/Suwardi will face former All England champion Koo KK/Tan BH, tricky test for second seed as this Malaysian duo is one of best MD at their heyday.

It's CHN v KOR, long-time rivalry in WD department. The young energetic Chen QC/Jia YF will face new lethal combination Chang YN/Lee SH while fresh pair Huang DP/Li YH has 8th seed Go AR/Yoo HW, the Korean #2 often trouble Chinese pair lately, Luo twins sisters and defeated Ma J/Tang YT twice in Jakarta WC and Japan SS.

Ko SH/Kim HN v Jordan/Susanto will be intriguing tie to watch, the pumped up Korean pair seem in good shape while INA #2 needs to be more consistent as they showed early this year. China young XD Huang KX/Huang DP will face relatively new Korean partnership Choi SG/Eom HW. The Chinese had collected 2 titles this season, USA & VIE Open.

Very good summary @ clely and thanks for always providing so much of input before the matches started. If everything goes on fine, maybe perhaps just maybe Korea will have a chance to win 7 medals in this tournament. Congratulations Korea.

I an here to share a bit about Korea success in doubles department. The coaches daring move to mix and match their pair to try out new partnership I guess has work magic and wonders. Korea coaches are very sharp in this. When they see a new pair not performing well in tournaments after playing together for quite some time the pair will be spilt and they will be try out with new partners. Although it is very risky to do so, the coaches have decided to try it and the outcome is really good. The current newly formed new pairs partnership has shown good result thus far by being able to advance to play in the semifinals. Congratulations.

Bearing in mind that this is Thailand grand prix gold open and no longer the victor Korea Open, I must certainly admit that Korean players have really shown vast improvement after a bout of poor performance earlier on this year.

Overall I am happy to able to watch 3 back-to-back event MS, MD and XD involving INA team in court #1 and 1 MS, and 1 all INA MD in court #2. Thankfully, there is no weekend chinese school in the morning for my kid tomorrow.

The court #1 WD is the opposite to the one on 2nd court. On main court, China trash Korean while the opposite happens on the 2nd court. So we will see China vs. Korea in WD final tomorrow for sure.

She was from China but accompanied her parents to Singapore to study as a young teenager I think, and later caught the eyes of our selectors. Her father is a badminton coach and must have taught her well. When I first noticed her years ago at a local tournament, she was still rather quiet and mainly kept to herself, but she was well-built and strong, though not as tall.

She is 19 now and with the regional and international exposure she has accumulated over the years, she is beginning to show her potential. I did not watch that "Badminton Unlimited" program you mentioned, but it could well be her and I hope she has improved on her English. ;)

Xiaoyu is our best hope in WS now, surpassing another China-born player Chen Jiayuan for now I think. But we also have up-and-coming local-born Yeo Jiamin.:)

At 19, LXY is stronger, taller and more experienced.

With her parents (I think in 2009) when LXY was much younger.

Okay so much of hype over the matches. Anyway Go Ah Ra / Yao Hae Won didn't play well today and found the Chinese WD too hit to handle. From the beginning of the game it was the Chinese WD who had a good control of the game. Anyway both already did a good job today and Korea already secured a bronze medal.

Next Chang Ye Na/ Lee So Hee did a good job today by winning the match and they will be playing in the finals tomorrow. Congratulations. I certainly hope they can win the gold medal tomorrow.

There is no bronze medal given for events like SS, GP Gold and GP. There is only the winner and runner-up.

Nope. The prize money is for winner and runner-up.

I don't think this is the case.

If the total prize money of US$120K, were just split between the two, they would have earned handsomely.

But there are fixed prize monies for the winner and runner up, the balance will go to the other players according to a scale that has been drawn up beforehand. That means the semi finalists will definitely get their money, so do the quarter finalists, etc.

But the winner and runner up get all the glamour at the prize presentation.
