hey guyz, it's my first time here, but ne wayz, i was wondering if you could help me decide what racquet i should buy, i'm thinking about the muscle power series, and have narrowed it down to either the mp-99 or mp-100, my situation is that i've only being playing for a year and this will be my final raquet for the next 5 years. i'm no good at smashes but i can drop very well, so which racquet would help me more with smashing? this is for competition as well. thanks a lot for taking your time reading this and please reply soon!
well to answer your question i would say the mp-99 is better for offense...but a mp series to use for 5 years? As it is a good racquet its not as durable as others. If you get one, keep it in good condition and really try to avoid clashes with other racquets, or get a warranty
MP100 is designed to be more of an attacking racquet than MP99 but i believe MP99 is better for all around play, ie doubles as well as singles
yeah, the muscle power series is known to break more easily than the others..therefore i'm not sure it'll last you 5 years, then again, if you take care of it and don't get yourself into clashes, you'll be fine...i myself own a mp 99 and hope to keep it in good contition for a long time. From my experiences with both muscle power 99/100..i would have to disagree with chub...i believe the muscle power is better for offence..IMO, it produces more power if used correctly whereas the mp99...yes, it does produce power, but it's very controllable therefore easier to defend with than the mp100... like many will suggest though, it's best if you tried out the two rackets before you buy...what i mentioned above is just what i think of the rackets..it maybe different for others
reply Hey Cazza, If you've only been playing for a year, I'd say don't bother spending all that money on a top of the line racket. Get a medium level racket for half the price, use it for a couple of years until you know what kind of player you are, what kind of game you have, and then you'll know what style racket will suit you. There are lots of good rackets that cost half the price. I bought all these MP-99, MP-100 and Ti-10s, only to find my game fits a lighter, more flexible racket. So now I play with a racket that costs a third of what the new MP-99 costs, but works better for me.
Thanks a lot ppl! well, wat would u recommend then? maybe i will put off the mp-series for one more year... the ti-series sounds good, wat's one that's good for power and control? i'm planning to spend between AUD$60-150, thanks a lot though! plz reply!
The proace isnt that bad, they very good value for money Carlton AS-1 is pretty good too, i believe u can find it within ur budget as for yonex range, i am not sure what you can buy with ur budget as yonex is quite expensive ......
with his budget... hmmm...... he can get a MP77.. and A Ti-10 in malaysia. Ti-10 is 150 AUD while MP77 is 120 AUD
btw...i'm a girl.... well, i'm really looking at the ti-series, but i'll go to my racquet store to go and have a good look.... i really need a racquet that can smash! thanx for the reccommendations!
SA and SR are 4U weight, SS and SX are 3U. shaft stiffness SX > SS > SR > SA head heavyiness SX > SS > SR > SA
One thing's for sure though. The Isometric Titanium Swing Power (SA,SR, SS, SX) are good rackets but very fragile.... Even more so than the Muscle Power series.
I personally really like MP99 (3U). I have 2 of those. And i also own a MP77(2U). MP99 is very well balanced and light racket, not head heavy buy still produce very good power smash. After i played rackets like Ti-10 and my MP77 (Head Heavy rackets), i believe head heavy rackets should suit ppl with more arm strength. Therefore, for me, MP99 gives me more control of my play, and indeed better performance . Hope this help~
apparently i read that the mp99 is similar to the ti swing power SX..i own both and i feel that i get a harder smash with the ti swing..whereas the power on the mp99 has a good feel and the smash seems fast and hard
MP99 is a good racket but its extra stiff shaft and relatively lighter head may not suit many less powerful players. I think Cazza will love the enlarged sweet-spot from TiSP.
