Daytime member for those that don't come that often. (elderly people usually get this) Cheaper than full member, but doesn't get to play that often. Full member can go hardcore and go all day. And guests pay 10.70 to play for a whole day, just make sure you don't leave, cause the lady at the counter is really... money-hungry.

Today I have group lesson at lee's lvl 3-4.....

    I was very disappointed...

I passed lvl 2-3, I can't believe the people at 2-3's skills were so much similiar to 3-4.

It almost made me think I'm in the wrong class. People can't take wall sitting (invisible chair). A girl even sat down half way and smiled.

Another disappointing thing was.. It's the first lesson and the coach isn't here :confused:... We had substitute :confused:.... We also didn't learn anything new, it's ALL reviews from 2-3...

....What's wrong with group lessons... They're getting so crappy :mad::mad:

I'm thinking about taking private after this group crap is over, is there a list of price for each coach? I went to www.leesbadminton.ca and I couldn't find any. Also, how does the payment work? Do you sign up for like 12 classes or something?

    I'm so disappointed. Today...:crying::crying::crying:

I would rather do drills after the lesson rather than wasting money into doing front and back footwork for 1 hour in group lessons. The group lesson was 1h 30m long... And we did front and back footwork for like 1 hour, the rest was drop and drive.

If we were to be tested on those in lvl 2/3, why aren't we learning something new in 3/4?.. What pisses me most was... The coach wasn't here on the first day. What am I paying for? For subsitutes to laugh at our form?

I'm sure 4/5 would be a more suitable lvl for me... But then again if you think about it. It's just... Finding a partner, do drills. Either you or your partner screws up and no one has a good time. Coaches walk around slowly correcting your form.

But in private, the coach is actually looking at your form for an hour straight... I would think private is the way to go. But my parents don't think so. (money problems)

So... how do you sign up for private? And how does the payment work?

Neosakai, I'm taking lv 5 atm, and soon going on to 6. I've thought of going to private, but its just too damn expensive. Depending on the coach you want, it may go up to 35-40$ / hour.

There is a big gap between the lv3-4 and the 5, so lv3-4s usually dont pass and go to 5. Plus in the summer, everybody went to HK, so many of the skilled people left for the summer.

Lv5 we dont do much footwork, usually practice cross court drop / smash and now some midcourt lifting. We do play some practice double / half court singles games at the end.
So now I just go to community centers to play drop ins... theres a catalog called "2005 Recreation Culture Fall Guide" that shows you places to play...you can get it at many community centers.

It's been a while since I made that previous rant about group lessons. Now I took all the money I possibly could and is currently taking private with Efendi.. But it's not going to well. It feels like the more clears I do, the closer to the net it results .. And my footwork is becoming slower, most importantly... I was told my stamina is ****.

    Question about Lees membership:

How much is the full membership? And if you subscribed to it, does it mean you can use the courts (given that they're empty) any time of the day/week? Including the 3 new courts on the other side? Because if thats the case, I can take the bus on hwy7 and go afterschool every day :)

And yeah, what he said. You can use the courts when no one is using them.

    Mandarin guest fee?

Hi, I'm going to to be staying in the Markham area next week, I was wondering whether the Mandarin Badminton Club has a guest/drop-in fee? I know Lee's does (or at least they did last time I was in town), and it's been discussed in this thread already.

Also, if yes I was wondering when's a good day and time to drop in for games, considering I won't have a partner.

hi, i'm not a member at Mandarin but i went yesterday coz a friend is a member and she could bring us in. However a fee for of $10.7 is required for guests. I think you do need a friend who's a member to get you in.. But best thing is to call to find out, here's their number: 905-940-0600
