Zakry is shorter than most male players at 168 cm. Anyway, good that Courageous Shortie/Fuzzy made it thru. Looks like they'll be meeting Tony/Chandra tomm but they cant be slow starters with the oldies.

    Meanwhile, Tony Gunawan/Candra Wijaya progress to R16 after a straight-set 21-16, 21-7 victory over Fang Chieh-Min/Lee Sheng-Mu. They will face Fairuz/Zakry tomorrow.

Now on to the last match of the day...Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan vs Robert Adcock/Robin Middleton.

What a reckless failure made by lukvent..I think it's time to separate them..maybe it would be better Alvent/Joko Riyadi

Zakry's game is ok, he is very good at the net. However, i cannot bear Fairuz's play, hate to watch his "low quality" drop shots which he tend to do too often....

That's why my nickname for Zakry is Courageous Shortie - the shorter guy but more aggressive than his taller partner. Stimes Zakry smash also better than Fairuz.
But Fairuz has improved in recent months - Copenhagen Masters was last time I watched them. Anyway, they did manage to beat Fu/Cai in China Open, so, skill wise, Rexy has taught them well.

Some BCer think Zakry/Fairuz should be separated due to Fairuz's nervousness and all. But Zakry actually produced better results with Fairuz than Gan TC. Now they're Msia 3rd MD pair, bf Zakry/Gan were 5th pair.

Whoops, seems Kido/Setiawan also having prob getting their engine moving right. Won 1st set, lost 2nd set 21-16, now rubber.
A lot of the top seeds didnt get their engine started properly today.

I hv a feeling that they r an ok pair, might create some upset sometimes but wont win anything big. Zakry might be better off partnering with Lin Woon Fui. Lin is really wasted partnering GTC.....

Zqloy, they wont change partners until after OG. They have to collect points for OG.

After OG, CTF/LWW most prob retire, could be a lot of changes too all around with the team.

Even Taufik himself admitted in an aftermatch interview with press, if the controvesial points not given to his favour, he would have lost the match against the Korean.

List of casualties for MAS team

    XD
    1. Tan Wee Kiong/Woon Khe Wei
-- Depite all the effort from coaches, they never seem to be grown up

    WS
    1. Julia Wong Pei Xian
-- An expected defeat to fellow Wong Mew Choo

    2. Anita Raj Kaur
-- Put up a titanic fight with the experince Yao Jie in the first set, credit must be given to this fearless young lady

    3. Lydia Cheah Li Ya
-- The ellergent french proove too strong for her..;)

    MS
    1. Hafiz Hashim
-- Nothing more to say about :p

    2. Roslin Hashim
-- A big blow for his Qualification of Olympics

    3. Tan Chun Seang
    - Leading for such a big margin , yet lose the game which he not suppose to.

    4. Yeoh Kay Bin
    - No Hopers, can't even put up a great fight

    5. Lee Tsuen Seng
    - As usual, lost tamely in the decider due to poor stamina.

    WD
    1. Ooi yu Yang/ Woon Khe Wei
-- Don't know whats went wrong with Khe Wei, but she got more potential in WD rather than with her regular partner in XD events

    2. Ng Hui Lin/ Goh Liu Ying
-- The mighty Chinese just too much for them

    MD
    1. Gan Teik Chai/ Lin Woon Fui
-- Once again, failed miserably in opening round. can't even put up some great fights. Hopeless

    2. Hoon thien How/ Tan Wee Kiong
-- A potential pair for the future.. WK Tan should concentrate on MD since the XD pairing with WKW doesn't click at all. :(

Wee Kiong/Woon in XD- they're goin thru some dry time, maybe their opponents read their game. They're still highest ranking Msia XD at no 30.
I wouldnt say they dont click at all - they wouldnt have won Asia Juniors last year if they didnt. Playing in 'major league' is sthing they must learn.

Lim Khim Wah/Ng Hui Lin, the World Junior Champs didnt even get thru qualifiers. Both pairs have better prospect in XD than MD or WD.

WD: Woon - she used to be with Goh LY, this year changed to Ooi, maybe that's the factor they're better, Ooi has more experience internationally, I think.
Salute them for giving a fight to the World No 15 Danes

MD: Wee Kiong, by sheer fact there are 6 senior MD, should concentrate on XD. No matter what the other seniors will be 1st choice in team events, WC, OG. But playing MD with Hoon will give Wee Kiong might improve his game, playing with a more senior partner that is.

Saw Zakry/Fairuz play in the 1st game, they were totally at sea, until Rexy moved over from Wong/Chin's completed match and sat beside YKH.

Not a good sign, shows that they are overly dependent on Rexy.

The juniors generally gave decent performances, but their games are all too one-dimensional, once the opponents understood it, it was game over.
