    - to raise lotta money from sponsors and broadcasters
    - to lure extra money from the public to enrich a few politicans and game officals, and to build huge funny looking buildings and structures that benefit a few afterward, if any( see athen).

Thats on negative side..where are others?
China may not agree with this....
I agree that IOC will make alot of money but China wanted to showcase's image, power, etc....to the rest of the world....

Off topic-Everyone will make a few more money..except tourists, visitors..

..actually what cooler mentioned are on the commercial/marketing side, more so on the negative side...Everyone will make a few more money (e.g. vendors, hotels, restaurants, businesses etc.).. The only ones losing money are the visitors, spectators, tourists (like those of us BCers going to the OG)...:p;)
But yeah, all of those reasons combined are definitely the effects/goal/purpose of the OG.

As D-Day approaches, the pressure must be mounting on every player.
The higher you are, the heavier the crowns

In the end, there can only be one winner.

Wow, that sounded a lot like Highlander movies .........

Just watched 'My Olympics' story bout LD...he really has grown up a lot compared to 4 years ago.
Thus I think he can get through PSH although I won't be surprise if PSH beat LD....yet again...

On the bottom of the page where the comments are.. says:
"After this article by Badzine, a friend of him sent us a mail saying that the player was safe and fine, practising in the Netherlands and that he would be on his way to Beijing shortly

All the best of luck to him
    Badzine's redaction"

Surely LD is not just feeling it against PSH, he would also feel it against LCW if they meet.
