The last statement I fully agree, it's more likely to lead to freak results or arbitrary outcomes. Like you, I much prefer the current 21-pt best-of-three format, status quo, no change. The physical advantage that younger players enjoy over the much older ones can't be helped, it happens everywhere in every strenuous sport.

I last saw Koki Watanabe played Sun Feixiang at the World Juniors Championships 2016 and he's complaining of exhaustion after a normal rally with the 33-year-old Lin Dan ?

Actually not too surprising, not only Koki but also the rest who played him at the Swiss Open, namely Arnaud, Brice, Ihsan, Anthony and even Shi Yuqi, all have a taste of what it's like being forced to run all over the place, twisting and turning, and sent in the wrong direction now and then, having to guess Lin Dan's stroke play throughout the match.

While Lin Dan was busy the last three weeks in Europe playing badminton, his beloved wife Xie Xingfang posted on social media that their baby son fell sick with rashes on his face.

She expressed that " since the arrival of precious Xiao Yu (son's pet name), Mummy's been worried and anxious over him subsequently, ai (sigh)...". Upon learning of it, many online friends showed tender affection for them, some offered suggestions on treatment options, some advised her not to worry needlessly as it's just skin rashes, a few even rebuked Lin Dan for being too busty with his career at the expense of taking care of his child. Xie Xingfang did not respond to these comments.

Btw, there is a video attached showing Xie Xingfang playing badminton with friends three months after giving birth, her figure as good as before.

I guess most first-time mothers are like that, can't stop worrying about their baby.

Only the pet name, Xiao Yu 小羽, no full name given, not that I know of. Of course, the surname (family name or last name) has to be Lin.

Once I come across it, I'll post it here.

He's feeling it I can assure you.
He just trains so hard that he's able to keep up at the moment.

the scoring discussion has been debated over and over. i'm not going to rehash it until bwf makes a concrete proposal. in short, it doesn't matter what we like. it comes down to broadcast length for tv dollars.

It is pretty crazy though. Like you look at Lin Dan and he just doesn't smash like he used to but LCW still fires them off. I wonder when time will catch up with him?

So Tennis should change the scoring system then? How about football (soccer)? I'm tired of idiots changing **** without effect. (TT changed 3 important things while I played. It got annoying, even though one change actually achieved something.)

Lin Dan control style. He controls you around like a circus monkey. If you can't break out of it... Then you will tire out.

the vast majority of tennis broadcsts are under 3.5 hours. futbol is under 3 hours.
if you want to see more $ in badminton get ready for changes.

Yeah and I have yet to see a 3hr badminton match. Changing the game wont necessarily attract money.

it has to do w/ broadcasting semi-finals & finals day... 5 matches per day, one court. ever seen one of those take less than 4 hours at ss/p level? does that make sense now?

Yes, it's still as useless as ever to change the format. Tennis has WS and MS matches that have great viewership, and both combined last longer than most badminton finals days. Wasn't there a Djokovic/Nadal AO final that took almost 6 hours...?
American Football also has very long play times, mostly due to the many breaks where the clock is stopped. Still, one of the financially strongest sports.

What's more important than match times is attracting an audience in the first place, promoting the sport in different ways does more for that than arbitrarily changing rules in hopes of getting a slightly more attractive TV format. Shortening matches down to 15 minutes would make for a good TV time (5 matches in under 2 hours possible), but make for a sucky viewing experience as single matches would be way too short to be of any interest, as they'd be over too soon for there to be any tension.
The BWF has to keep in mind that the excitement and level of play should be the highest priority, and in my opinion (and experience), changing the game to a 11p/bo5 format would compromise that.
