I would also describe it as a mixture of BG80 and ZM62F. Repulsion on par with ZM62F but with more control. Durability is sensational. After 2 months strung at 25 lbs. on the racket there was no nicking or dipping at crossovers at all.

The outer layer only comes off quite easily when tying knots a bit too tightly. But since you don't string your own rackets (yet) that's nothing you have to worry about.

I've only had fraying in two cases; first once wasn't strung by me, fraying on one of the center mains. Second one was where I messed up with rough needle nose pliers and a bit of a twisted string not wanting to go through the hole easily.

Wow. Really sounds like a wonderful string then. Now I'm wondering if the No. 3 will be even more wonderful... :)

Hmmm, hurry up Winston @MBS ! My credit card is all ready to roll!

So how does it compare to VS850?

Hmm... VS850 sucks at pretty much everything after 4(?) hours of use, No. 1 reaches its peak at that point and stays there. No. 1 is superior in every aspect IMO.

The holy grail for me is an 850 that doesn't explode or drop like a stone

Yeah, I'd consider both VS850 and BG66UM "tournament" strings. Meaning they're only good for those few hours of play at the tournament and that's it. They're done. Either they break or you'd have to cut it when they feel dead after those few hours.

VS890 covers the second bit. But I popped on in the middle of the bed within two hours. At 30/31.

Still, 890 will be out on the reel shortly... I'm going to try and cadge a set from Birmingham so I can try it at a real tension this time.

    I wasn't overly keen on 890

A retailer here in Ho Chi Minh city is selling it for 90.000vnd, or about $4.50. Is that possible? Seems really cheap.

Ok I strung it at 28x30 to match my BG80 tension. I figured as its a .65 it may feel similar.

If you like a hard, stiff setup, this string isn't for you. It's soft and it moves a lot. It sounds nice but thats where my enjoyment ended. I would have to take it up another 4lb to be able to use it myself.

That was in hour 1 & 2, as you all have said it drops and settles after 6 hours then I can't see my keeping it.

Soft? Really? It's on the harder end of strings in my experience.

It feels in ashaway territory on feel for me. I'm not a prototypical badminton player though.

Second that. That's the first time I have seen it described as "soft" either.

Softer than BG80 for sure, but soft overall is a little exaggerated in my opinion, it's medium at least. :p

Not being funny but I have a 28lb and a 31lb string job with Li Ning on me, what is yours pinging at? I have a feeling if it's moving that much, your clamps might not have been tight enough. My 28lb job is pinging at around 1300hz (N50 III).
