Let's conclude it, Lin Dan is the best MS baddy player in human history.

Lin Dan has dominated the MS field since 2004 and counting. He won OG, he won 2 times WC, 4 times AE, and countless numbers of SS.

And by best I mean he is better than all badminton great from the past too. He would beat anyone today or from the past even at their prime time.

Agree or not. Discuss. :D

Haters will only agree to that if he wins the WC this year and a AG Gold and Malaysian open and Indonesian Open.
Before he acomplishes that they will never agree :p... Also, perhaps they'll say LD is playing players past their primes now and there is no upcoming talent to test him etc....
Blah blah bra...

Totally Agreed! :)

I will more agree if he can win in five "consecutive" BWF four star+ tournaments. In 21-rally points system, stochastically, it's much harder to accomplish this.

Greatest MS baddy player in human history??..

it's the age old discussion..
well, personally, it's hard to gauge/judge/compare him against players from the past (even at their prime)..that's like trying to compare the current Yonex ArcSaber 7 (or whatever model they have now is better than the Blackie racket of yesteryear)..Also, how about players from the future (i mean 15-20 yrs from now)? How will LD be compared/gauged/judged to them and vice versa??..;)

..i'd like to add:
And he's won all those major titles using the New Scoring System (since 2006)..;)

Agreed. I'd like to say about it; the system makes differences. You can't play like that with 15-service long systems.

not much difference except LD has more shopping time left because steamrolling his opponent to 15 is quicker than to 21.

Do you know you're saying just as you have already forgotten all about how the 15-system goes on?

If you want, check it with the tournament s/w scores of his game in order to know how long it will take if they play with the old system. :)

Haha, man, it usually does not work like that. Just check how long it will take with any of the stored scorings; you seem to know the systems but don't in practice. :)

I personally think he is the best player in 21-rally point system.
With 15 point system, he is one of the best but NOT necessarily THE BEST.
21-point systems suits his style of playing, 15-point system suits LCW style more.
End.

Lin Dan has done it already back in 2006

All these tournaments were held consecutively
Macau open 06 beating LCW in final
Chinese Taipei open 06 beating LCW in final
Hong Kong open 06 beating LCW in final
World Championship 06 beating Bao CL in final
Japan open 06 beating Taufik in final

Funny how LCW only beat LD once(1 time) under 15 point system and that was in Malaysia open 05... note: Malaysia open.. for the village king LCW.

The current competition level is higher than in the past years... consider how back in Rudy's years, China wasn't even competing at all.

Lin Dan has really dominated since 2004, with some set backs(obviously), but he remained to be the one winning the most tournaments before winning the World championship. Then obviously he won the 2 world championships, followed up with the victory at OG 08... that pretty much put him above everyone else in terms of major title victories ever since badminton became an OG sport.

If that is not enough to prove his dominance and being possibly the very best badminton MS player ever.

I can't recall LCW has won many titles back in the OSS days, but LD has already won AE back then.

I kept thinking Zhao Jianhua was the best ever. But after watching him play in OG last year and the recent tournments, I start thinking he is even better than Zhao. LD plays like Yang Yang. They both don't have any weakness, but just LD is a little better in every aspect.
